Michelle My Bell
I have been asked to plan a bridal shower lunch for a pretty large group of women. I am planning on making a menu and then asking different women to prepare parts of it. I am unsure about the menu. I don't know if I should do sandwiches, or casseroles or something else. The colors are pink/white/black. I am trying to think pretty, but economical, tasty and enjoyable for all ages (children included). Help me plan this!!! Here are my preliminary plans, feel free to offer changes. Soup Chicken Salad on Pita Egg Salad on Wheat Fruit Parfaits Pasta Salad: Pasta with Italian dressing, Mozzarella Chunks & Broccoli Muffins (Banana from Everyday Italian) Punch: 7-Up & Raspberry Sherbet Coffee Ice Water Michelle
athena1277
It sounds good, but if there will kids I would include some kids friendly fare. If you want it simple, just make up a bunch of PB&J's. Also, don't forget a pretty cake!
Guest
Yum! I think that sounds wonderful! If your budget allows, I would maybe add a veggie tray. I just went to a kids princess tea the other day and the mom had made really cute PB&J sandwiches and cut them out with a heart cookie cutter. That would be kid friendly. Also, she had wheat thins with misc. cheeses cut out in heart shapes. Cute! Just some more ideas. And definitely a cake! ;)

Here's what's worked best: Chicken salad on croissants, both can be bought at Sam's Club. Fruit salad of diced apples, diced pears, grapes, celery, raisins and pecans (optional) with a dressing of vanilla yogurt. Green salad of romaine lettuce, spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, green onions, bacon bits with the options of ranch or Italian dressing. Cream puffs/eclairs, frozen from Sam's Cake punch (we usually do Sprite, pineapple juice and sherbet) bowls of hershey kisses or other individually wrapped chocolates Most everything can be bought at Sam's Club and their chicken salad is really good and goes a long way. You could have a couple of gals be in charge of the sandwiches, a few in charge of the salads, one to order and get the cake, one to do punch and candies. I've also done cold cut sandwiches, but those take longer to assemble and aren't nearly as pretty or girly as chicken salad. OH, and something else that is really pretty: get a styrofoam cone (about a good 24" high) and attach strawberries to it, to make a tree. You could place the tree on a platter of other fresh fruits and it's really nice. You could forego the fruit salad if you do this. The best idea, IMHO, is to keep the menu simple but elegant. Too many choices takes longer to assemble and takes people longer to get through the line AND you'll end up spending more money because people will take everything, instead of one sandwich over another. Believe me, I know this. I hope this has helped. If you have other questions, feel free to PM me. :)
