erica471
I was wondering if Lightning Lit would be appropriate for adult self-eduction. I'm trying to read some of the literature I missed in high school and college and was wondering if the high school level might be an option. Michelle in AL
Hhmm, I've only used 8th grade, but from that experience, I don't think the comprehension questions will bring you really indepth analysis of the books. I could be wrong about the high school levels though. I think you wouldn't need many of the worksheets or writing assignments. For adult education, I would start off by reading How to Read Literature Like a Professor Then The Well Educated Mind along with the books it covers along with Invitation to the Classics for background info on the books. I can't comment on LL because I haven't used it, but :iagree: with Michelle's recommendations for HTRLLAP, TWEM, and ITTC. This is how I'm "working through" some of what "we" :glare: missed in public HS. It really bugs me, now that I think about it, just how little we got for how hard we worked, KWIM? Anyway, TWEM and ITTC are good resources for adult learners. Another thought -- Have you considered Tapestry of Grace? You could use the teacher notes/high school level (rhetoric) questions to work through that material. Then you'd have the other levels to use with your students all the way through. I haven't done this, but I've read here on the boards about some who have. Just a thought, HTH.
