mamapjama
Borax? We are making crystals here today and I thought I had some Borax. I can't find it though. I do have the washing soda. Do you think it would work?
cjzimmer1
I would say no, only because my laundry soap recipe uses both so they must do different things.
melissel
No, they're not. Different chemicals involved.
mamapjama
Darn! I'll have to get dh to pick some up on the way home. Now to get the 7 year old to wait that long LOL! Thanks for saving me the effort!
Adrianne
Check out this link: Salt, sugar, borax, washing soda.... There is a long list of ingredients that can go into solutions which form crystals. http://www.teachnet.com/lesson/science/crystals040999.html Sodium carbonate (washing soda) is formed by ions. As long as you have a supersaturated solution (more washing soda than water) crystalization will take place.
