A home for their hearts
Anyone use this? I've seen it mentioned a couple of times and was wondering how it works? It's very expensive so I doubt I would ever be able to afford it but I wanted to get a better understanding of how it works.
Chris in VA
Search the Montessori sites and it will give you a better idea of the philosophy behind Shiller. I would have used it if their materials had been of the same excellent quality as the traditional Montessori materials (glass beads, for one). notbefore7
I have Shiller Math - the entire Kit I. I am part way through book 2 with my kindergartener. I love the hands on approach and the lack of drill and practice constantly. I think that would drive her crazy, but she seems to pick up concepts easily. As we move further along, I am afraid there are some large gaps. In the entire K-3 books I don't see any place value, rounding, etc. I am a bit concerned and might look at Horizons or Saxon for next year. shame, cause I own all of this and free downloads for 3 more years. what are others experiencing? Does someone further along in this curriculum have some thoughts?

It's called the Decimal System.
