Parrothead
My mom bought us one of those HDTVs. It is being delivered tomorrow via Fed Ex. Tomorrow is also TKD day. We have to leave home before the normal delivery time if we are going to make it to TKD - which is an hour and a half away. I think one of us (me) should stay home and accept delivery. Dh says we should just leave a note on the door asking that the box be put in the house via the side door where the dogs won't get it. What would you do knowing that there is an expensive item coming? Stay or go?
jplain
I'd say stay, unless you can rearrange your schedule to be available another day. The driver might not be comfortable leaving it, or may not be able to leave it if a signature is required.
KS_
I'd want someone to be home - I'm not sure w/ an expensive item like that if Fed Ex would leave it w/o a signature anyway (they might. . .) but it would make me feel better to not have it just left while I was gone. G5052
We've computer stuff that was taken back because they wouldn't accept a note on the door. Vendors often specify that a real person must sign for it for high-ticket items. You might be able to call Fedex and see what the terms specify. YMMV
Tap
call Fed-ex and ask if they know what time to expect it. If it is during the time you will be gone then either stay home or ask if they will hold delivery for a day
Parrothead
Thanks everyone. I'll let dh know what you said GVA. If he insists that I go with them, I'll see if I can get my friend to house sit until it comes.
