swellmomma
I have been reading the CM book on ambleside and saw this term used. As I am understanding it, it is about leaving the child to their own devices for a spell each day, is that correct? Is this something that tends to get scheduled in or just as things come up or what? I have never heard the term before and am trying to understand it more.

Jean in Newcastle
It is letting your child explore things (safely) while resisting the urge to jump in and take over.
abreakfromlife
I kind of look at it as beneficial play time.....like when they are playing with k'nex or playmobil, or playing post office and writing letters.....actually doing something 'fun' yet something that involves their imagination and playing-together-nicely skills...........I don't know if that's completely accurate or not.
