dcjlkplus3
I'm getting ready to order curriculum for next year. Does anyone have any recommendations for 3rd grade chemistry? :bigear:
inashoe
We used Adventures with Atoms and Molecules by Mebane - as recommended in WTM. It was a huge hit. ds learnt a lot then that he has never forgotten. He still says that Chemistry is his favourite subject.

Is it easy to use (for me)? Does it have reading recommendations?
whitestavern
We're using Noeo Chemistry for 3rd this year. It's expensive, but comes with a teacher's manual, all the books you'll need for the year and all the experiment kits. There are a few things you'll need to provide (a soda bottle, balloon, hydrogen peroxide, that sort of thing--nothing I've had to "shop" for). It's very easy to use and my kids enjoy it. mcconnellboys
I like these books for experiments. I also like Elements, by Ellen McHenry, available at Rainbow Resource Center....
JudoMom
I really liked Real Science 4 Kids Chemsitry Pre-Level 1, and plan to do their Physics, Biology, and Chemistry Level 1 starting in the fall.
usetoschool
Real Science 4 Kids is a complete curriculum, doesn't require additonal books, but it does not take up an entire school year. Each level covers the same information but just more in depth and a little broader, so for a 3rd grader you could start with Level 1 on not miss anything. My kids like experiments. It does include experiments but not nearly as many as we would have liked so we added the Atoms and Molecules books.
Allearia
We have really loved the REAL Science life science and they just came out (are coming out with in a couple of months?) chemistry that we will do probably around 3rd grade. We will do the earth space and astronomy next, starting in a month or so. I downloaded the chemistry sample and it looks great. It might be a tough choice because no one has used it yet but you might want to check it out. http://www.pandiapress.com/Freebie%20RSO%20level%20one.pdf
dcjlkplus3
Thanks so much to everyone. I think I am going to go with Noeo chemistry 1. It looks great.
