Paz
We are doing French I with Le Francais Facile. Dd knows the vocabulary very well but has not done much writing. I am looking for a general French workbook that will help her with writing sentences, learning verbs, etc. Right now we are working through French in 10 minutes a day but will need a more thorough book when that is completed. mooooom
We used French is Fun for 7th and 8th. Your dd could probably work through it at an accelerated pace. They also have high school level programs. I had no trouble getting set up as a teacher, just faxed the letter from my school district. Check out their website, I think it is amscopublishing - they have a lot of neat "accessories" such as vocab controlled story books
Nan in Mass
We bought Barron's French the Easy Way at Borders. It is a big write-in book with the answers in the back. At least you could look at it before you bought it.
Matryoshka
We've been using Spanish the Easy Way from Barron's for Spanish, and are really liking it. They have in in French, too, so you might want to look at that. The Spanish course is said to be equivalent to 1 -1 1/2 yrs of high school Spanish, so I'd guess the same would be true of the French book. Joan in GE
We are doing French I with Le Francais Facile. Dd knows the vocabulary very well but has not done much writing. You didn't say if you read and write French yourself because that can make a big difference for the materials... Do you know Cahier 1? It would be good if you either know the answers or can find a teachers guide. We use it orally to reinforce proper verbal French (they know most of the material, I just felt guilty for having bought the book and not using it. but the verbal practice is worthwhile). It will teach some grammar or conjugation then give all these exercises. And my children will just answer aloud. But there is room to write in the book. http://www.amazon.com/Cahier-Beginning-Workbook-Grammar-Communication/dp/0844214477 Best, Joan Edited January 29, 2009 by Joan in Geneva
Paz
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will look into these. I just realized do have French the Easy Way. I guess that is an indication that you have too much curriculum when you ask for suggestions and then already have what is recommended.
