cathmom
Has anyone done RightStart Math all the way to the end and then switched to MUS? What level did your dc test into in MUS? TIA!
Sew happily ever after
My plan was to use RS all the way through then go into the fractions level of MUS. At least that's what simply charlotte mason recommends. I'd definitely have your DC take the placement tests for MUS b/4 you switched them over though. FWIW, I don't use level A too much...they get it all again in level B, and they're ready for it in first grade or even later, so I don't stress over level A too much. PeterPan
We did RS A-D and went from there into BJU math. BJU was an AWESOME transition, because it's so similar conceptually. Just today the lesson had us doing mental math where I was able to bring in and review concepts we had covered in RS. It flows together so nicely. We went from RS D into BJU4, but many people have gone from RS E into BJU6. If the student is on the young side or less confident, some people will go from RS E into BJU5. Either way works. We're in BJU5 now, and I really, really like it. I think RS in the lower grades and then going into BJU is terrific.
prairiegirl
This is what I am planning on doing when my dd gets through E which should be next fall. I have agonized over this decision as my dd has some math issues. Workbook based math programs would not work for her at all. I am hoping that MUS will help. I was planning on starting MUS with fractions as well.
