Harriet Vane
My mil would like to get dd a magazine subscription for her birthday (which was yesterday but will be celebrated on Friday). I DO NOT like teeny-bopper magazines that are all about clothes, make-up, cutesy stuff, and boys. Dd's reading level is advanced. She enjoys crafts of various kinds, reading, and writing. She is a Christian. Any suggestions?
Tap
Have you looked at the Cobblestone magazines (Cricket, Ask, etc)? I believe they have a magazine or two for that age group. http://www.cobblestonepub.com/magazines.html Ds14 likes adult magazines like Smithsonian, Popular Science, and Scientific American. Maybe a trip to B&N with her will flush out an adult magazine that she would like more than a kid magazine.
hornblower
Cicada http://www.cricketmag.com/ProductDetail.asp?pid=11 or, if she likes history, Calliope http://www.cricketmag.com/ProductDetail.asp?pid=14&type= I've heard good things about New Moon but haven't seen it myself yet. http://www.newmoon.com/ And a definite NO to Girls Life. It's truly awful.
TraceyS/FL
Mine seems to be enjoying MUSE, she has received 2 issues of it. She does also enjoy National Geographic and SMithsonian when they arrive too.
