AustinTea
We are using TOG Year 2 and it just isn't working for us. We haven't gotten too far because it seems like we can't get a handle on it and we have had some problems getting things from the library. I ended up buying more of the books to get us through the first unit. I don't feel like my dd (10th grade) has learned anything. I'm ready to throw it out! I am really wishing I would have just gone with Sonlight. I don't know what to do or how to save this year of school. Any advice?
Ria
Can you sort through the assigned reading and find a few books that you can take your time going through? Get the Cliff's Notes (they help!). Take your time. Use TOG's info as a guide, but spread. it. out. over. weeks. not. days. TOG does a great job of putting together a program, but honestly, I've not yet met a child or mom who can keep pace with their high school program. I ran into the very same thing. Do you think it would work better if you picked what you wanted to cover, and just did it slowly? Ria
Cathy in TX
If so, have you looked at the home school lending library in Pflugerville? My friend who uses TOG gets lots of her books there. Membership for a year is $39. Here is the website:http://www.christianhomelibrary.org/ Hopefully that link will work. If not, try searching for Christian Home Library. Cathy Actually, I don't :blushing: live in Austin. I didn't think of that when I picked my user name. My actual name was already taken and everyone had such cute names (which were already taken, lol). I was petting my dog, Austin, and drinking a cup of tea and that equals user name. :D I don't think well under pressure, lol.
Cathy in TX
LOL! Sorry to be of no help, then. But I do like your user name. :)

SL didn't work for me because the reading pace was too fast, and I felt too discouraged knowing that every time I didn't get through a days worth of work it meant my oldest wouldn't get to do another part of one of the upper cores. Yes I have planning issues. :D TOG works better for me because I tweak anything I do use, because I don't use a library, and because I do it at my pace and not TOG's. With there being 4 years I don't feel like we are going to miss anything. While we won't get in three rotations we will probably get through 2. I can live with that. It would seem that if you have a print version it might be easy to resell given how many people don't like the DE. Can you sell it and buy SL?
