Saille
Does anyone have this? Kodak alleges it uses far less ink than my HP, and the ink cartridges are substantially less expensive. They also claim that, because they use pigment-based inks, pictures are less prone to fading. I'd love to hear reviews.
1bassoon
We just got the 5500 - It's really slow. It's really noisy. BUT the print quality so far is great!!! I can't comment on ink usage - I've only had it about 3 weeks. One caveat - my dad, who used to work for Kodak, has commented that Kodak has a track record of releasing great products, then abandoning them. He's concerned, b/c they are no longer selling them at a lot of retailers. Just fwiw. I am enjoying ours, though!
MotherMayI
I have one and I really dislike it. I'm on my 2nd because the first was defective. This one works, but not well. I think the quality stinks and I don't think there has been a great savings in ink. I printed a picture today of a dog we found and it's grainy and faded- and my ink reads full. My recommendation would be to keep looking:001_huh:!

Kathleen in VA
My son works at Best Buy and he does not recommend any Kodak printer. For the average home/office printer he does recommend the HP Photosmart 6380 because it is reliable and the ink is inexpensive. It has separate color cartridges (photo black, magenta, cyan and yellow at about $10/each) so you can replace only the color you need to making it more economical than a tri-color cartridge. This model has a separate high capacity black ink cartridge just for documents (runs about $27). This will give you about 200 4 x 6 photos and 800 text pages. Other printers, using a 2-cartridge system, will only give about 200 text pages or 200 color photos. If more than a third of your printing is photos, he recommends the Epson NX series or Artisan series.
