ereks mom
...do you do all the reading yourself, or do you and your student take turns reading to each other?
Nan in Mass
If it is science, and I'm not driving, I do the reading because they say they understand better that way. If it is literature, we take turns. If it is for fun, I do all the reading because they want to hear the story the way I read it, which I totally understand because I still get my own mother to read things to me because I like the way she reads them (like LOTR). Gwen in VA
I do all the reading. I am not crafty, so when the kids read, I just sit. But when I read aloud to them, my dd2 knits or cross-stitches and ds2 builds kites. So they work and I read. Everyonoe's happy! :001_smile:
Cedarmom
We take turns reading. My son finds it easier to listen when he takes turns.
Karen in CO
We took turns reading; we just both seemed to be able to focus better if we were both reading. I think he enjoyed listening to me read aloud but felt too old to just be read to.
mamaof2andtwins
I do all the reading because the only read aloud we are doing is with all the kids. For some reason it bothers them to be read to by each other, but they love to have me read. I think it is relaxing for them. Jennie
Sharon in MD
We don't do as much read aloud as we used to, but we do still enjoy it occassionally. If it is pleasure reading, usually I do the reading, or we also enjoy books on tape in the car for fun. If it is more study related, we take turns, with it open in between us. We find that we both retain better that way; when one is reading the other is following along.
FloridaLisa
I do all the reading, but that's because I still have littles listening in and they like the voices I create. :001_smile: Lisa
Halftime Hope
because my voice gets tired because I can see something sad coming that's going to make me weepy (darn-it!) because I get sleepy They prefer for me to read, because reading is very hard work for my dyslexic kid, but I prefer to hear him read, b/c it give sme an idea how he's doing! MicheleinMN
Depends ;) For Shakespeare we each take a part (or two or three), for literature we each usually read-alone, and for the bedtime read-aloud, I do all the reading.
Melanie in WI
I do most of the reading, but ds takes turns while dd knits.

LoriM
I did all the reading until I raised up a replacement. Now my 19yo tends to do all the reading, even with her fiance'...they've read several books together this year. Gives me such hope for my grandchildren...grin!
