4kidsandcounting
Is anyone in-the-know for what is going on with Saxon? I was reading a few days ago on this sight about it changing...I was going to switch to Saxon from MUS. Should I still plan on it? Thanks everyone for answering! Cornerstone Classical
You must be referring to the concern these ladies were talking about in this thread http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74608&highlight=saxon+math HTH:001_smile:
Guest
After reading this (and the other) thread, I did email my local Saxon rep asking her if they had any plans to re-vamp the h/s curriculum, like they just did the p/s. Her comment back was that she didn't know what was taking them so long to do it. Hmmm.....I wrote her back and hope to get a bit more info. JudoMom
I emailed Saxon, and this is the response I got: "New editions of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 have been published for classroom use as well as a separate Geometry textbook. The Geometry textbook satisfies the requirement that some states have for a separate geometry course. The newer editions also provide some technology components that are only applicable to a classroom setting and some additional materials to meet the needs of special ed students, English language learners, and other populations. The current homeschool editions of the upper grades math textbooks still provide the same content with the geometry integrated into the texts. These are still excellent programs and will continue to be for many years to come. Paired with the new Saxon Teacher CDs for the upper grades homeschool programs, students can now have a “computer tutor†to assist them with daily lessons." It doesn't exactly make it clear if they're changing the homeschool texts. I'm going reply and ask specifically; I'll let you know what response I get. 4kidsandcounting
Thank you for all the help. I will be ordering Saxon 3 and Saxon 1, it seems to me that it won't effect me as much. But I could be wrong. Thank you for your help. I look forward to hearing what you find out. Jen

"I am not aware of any immediate plans for this." So it appears that it's not going to impact the homeschool texts anytime soon.
