Tabrett
This might be old news, but here is a really good article about the author, Christopher Paolini. He wrote the first draft for Eragon at 15. Kudo's for homeschooling!:thumbup1:
HappyGrace
way before the book was even a hit! I always try to bring it up to people when Eragon, etc., comes up in conversation.
Hen
yes, my kids think that is so cool, it's kind of inspirational to them, to think of what they could accomplish-even as kids. thanks for the link
Just Another Jen
We know. Our older two boys are getting their accredited diplomas through the American School. The author also used the American School so there have been several articles in school publications highlighting their "famous" graduate. I"ve never heard of this but the site is pretty interesting. Is it a college prep type program? How advanced would it be?
Pretty in Pink
My oldest ds is a HUGE fan of the Eragon series. He learned recently that the author was HSed and couldn't stop telling random people!
Susan Wise Bauer
Yes, OK, but I just HAVE to say... have you heard/read interviews with the author, where he explains that he decided not to go to college because college professors had nothing to teach him? or where he explains how hard it was for him to throw out ten whole pages of Eragon and rewrite it? Some of us are not COMPLETELY impressed. Threadkiller SWB
Susan Wise Bauer
P.S. This has nothing to do with the fact that he has sold eight zillion books more than older and harder working writers. Naturally. SWB

How many other authors can get away with "influence" writing (I'm trying to be generous)? I was somewhat shocked that DellRay didn't come right out and throw a fit at the blatant use of Anne McCaffrey's ideas, given the fact that they won't allow anyone else to write in her worlds (fan or other authors), other than her son. Eragon was, IMHO a good first work. I _was_ interested in seeing what this child would come out with after time, maturity, and more education.
