Is it ok to eat this?

Recommended Posts

I made a shepherd pie type thing yesterday for a late lunch--2ish, I think. It had pre-cooked pre-sliced ham + canned veggies, cr of soup, fake mashed potatoes. Ok, ok, maybe it shouldn't have been eaten to start w/, lol, but dh & dc love it.

Anyway, I went to the store right after lunch--left dh & the dc still eating. When I got home, I forgot about it. I didn't put it in the fridge until this morning around 8:30. It's half a casserole, though, & I can't stand the thought of throwing it out.

Two hours is the guideline for how long perishable food should be at room temperature. That's way over two hours! I know you hate to throw away food that you bought and worked to prepare, but the risk of sickness in your kiddos isn't worth it, IMO.

The question is: Is it perishable? Is it even biodegradeable???

I wouldn't risk it, it was just left out way too long. Even though there is a lot of preservatives in it, it is also very moist and could go off pretty quickly.
