Miss Marple
I am really tempted to get a very short pixie style cut, but the only people I've seen this on are those with very petite features (small heads, etc.). I'm not particularly petite - just about normal (according to Wii Fit :D). I'm about 5'5". I really don't like spending much time on myself and want an easy cut. My hair is straight and fine, but there is a good amount of it. Has anyone gotten this cut and hated it?
Laura Corin
I had a pixie cut ten years ago - I loved it, and DH still says it was his favourite cut. I weighed about 135 pounds and I have strongly-marked features (aquiline nose, square jaw, dark eyebrows). It does cost money to maintain the cut if it's short: I used to get it cut almost every month. Laura
Heidi @ Mt Hope
Well, I don't know if mine qualifies as a pixie style cut, but I prefer it really short (like right after I get it cut). I've had it short now for 7 years! I love it, get lots of compliments on it, and would never consider myself petite. When it is really short I wash it, towel dry it, put a little hair gel in it, and I'm good to go. Perfect for life with three little boys. :) FWIW, my hair is fine but I also have a lot of it. It does have natural curl, but I actually prefer it straighter. As it gets longer, I use a wide barreled curling iron to straighten it and flip out the curl slightly. Barb_
Don't be offended, but I Googled pixie, style, fat on the images page. Not saying you are fat, but pixie style was just giving me page after page of Posh Beckham and Katie Cruise. I was under the impression you must have the bones to pull off a pixie style. But I hit this lady's blog and I think it looks really cute on her: healthatmysize! Barb
beansprouts
I am not fat, but I do have a roundish face. Short hair is not flattering to me.
homeschoolmomtutu
I think pixie can look cute on many types, small delicate features, big bold ones...but not all types look good in pixies....okay I am no help at all:lol: ...but ya know hair can always grow back, so why not go for it if you want to try it out! Pretty in Pink
I think your hair's texture will lend itself nicely to a pixie cut. Winona Rider had one several years ago and it was the prettiest one I've ever seen! I think it depends on your facial features though; I don't like them much on people with very straight noses (like myself).
Miss Marple
I like Winona Rider's cut too. I have a smallish face/head and usually get the most compliments when my hair is pulled back off my face. I'm not willowy thin, but not heavy either (5'5" 140 lbs). I have a perfectly oval face with a slightly pointy chin and the hairdressers say that I can wear most styles. I just usually see the pixie style on really tiny gals. I'm feeling better about it after 'hearing' from all you :-)
Miss Marple
OK, I'll have to work at keeping it cut. I'm terrible at making appointments for hair cuts, but I guess I could get used to it. My hair does grow quite fast.
Miss Marple
Oh, I had a cut a while back where I asked for a bob and got a Posh! It was sooooo not me! Everytime I saw her pic I kinda cringed! Katie Holmes cut is cute, but longer than I want. Here's one I like: look at the top left pic. Miss Marple
Ha! I hadn't thought to add the "fat" to Google. I was Googling just about every other combination :-)
Mari
That's what's going on over here and I'm happy to say I'm sporting a stylish, short doo. :) I had a longer style but always felt frumpy pulling it back out of my face. I couldn't stand it...I felt like a 70's flower child. I finally got tired of caring what others would think and decided to please myself for a change. You know what, I like my look so much more now and feel a whole lot more confident, too.

Miss Marple
I felt like a 70's flower child Every bob I look at reminds me of my "mommy cuts" that I've sported for far too many years. I want something a little edgy. I may end up wearing a hat to church on Sunday LOL, but I like hats, too.
Tracey in TX
What about a bob? They come in all lengths and are fabulously easy to maintain. I am low maintenance and swear by the bob. I have a strong jaw bone (read "wide cheeks" :)) and fine, thin hair.
MrsMe
How about a picture of you and we'll take a vote? LOL!!!! I have a friend with one and she has a very full face. Looks great! It just really depends on features too.

Miss Marple
OK, I've uploaded a pic onto my profile page. I'll try to put it here, but I'm not too confident it will work. Lovedtodeath
I like #1 for your face. #2 would work best for me, but then I love the Posh on me. LOL different strokes... When I have short hair with long bangs I look great. If I have short hair and short bangs I look like a boy unless I really fix it to get the flippiness going and wear makeup. So... something to keep in mind. Ultra short pixies look great on a model all made up but how will they look when you are just plain? I used this http://www.thehairstyler.com/login.asp to pick out my current style. It was loads of fun and well worth it. You can try on hairstyles on your face. It actually works well because it has you put your features into the right spots, zoom in, change angles, etc.
Highereducation
I'm petite (5'1", bet. 95-100 lbs. depending on what time of year it is) and I have really thick, thick hair (courtesy of my Scottish grandmother!). I kept it long for years and years. About five years ago it started to go grey. I am extremely sensitive to chemicals and I didn't want to get into the cost or schedule of keeping it colored, so one day about three years ago I decided to have my head shaved. Not completely, about 1/4". I went into a barbershop and the people thought I was crazy, but they did it and I've never looked back. Dh isn't thrilled about it, but he understands that my hair is more of a statement about who I have become than just what it looks like. I was involved in auditioning for years and I was constantly reminded about keeping up my looks. Shaving my hair was probably the most cathartic thing I've ever done. Now I let it grow for about six to eight weeks between cuts, and when it gets too long and starts to bug me, I shave it myself. The only drawback I've encountered is in the winter, because I'm cold to begin with, but I've acquired quite a collection of hats. Timewise, the cut saves me about 30 to 45 minutes a day. I used to dread having to fix my hair, because it was so thick and also because I resented the time I had to take. Now I get out of the shower, towel it dry and go. I also spend a lot less time looking in the mirror than I used to, and tons less time stressing about how I look. Sometimes people can be a little critical, but most often what I hear (from women) is, "Wow, I wish I had the guts to do that with my hair!" And I tell them all to go for it. Miss Marple
Oh, my goodness! You are brave. I've always said that if shaved heads were in style for women I would be one of the first in line to do it. But I think I better go with a little off at a time. Who knows? Maybe the next time it'll be even shorter!

Barb_
OK I have an old picture that shows my face well, but how do I upload it? It's just in My Pictures. You have great cheekbones! You have the perfect face for short hair and I think any one of these cuts would look great on you. I've done long hair all my life, but I have a very square (almost masculine) jawline. I don't think I could pull it off. I'm afraid I'd end up looking like my dad :glare: Barb

MrsMe
Yes! I think you'd look great in a pixie. You have a very femine face! Do you have thick hair? A lot of short cuts have thin hair which is why they work so well, so becareful of that. I say go for it and send a pic when it's done!! I like the dark haired one the best. It's most like Winona Rider's who's short little doo I love!!!!!
homeschoolmomtutu
You would look adorable in a pixie...with your features you could totally pull it off and it would give you a modern/sassy edge...hth~~

Miss Marple
OK, I did it. But I think the gal had a hard time going as short as I had in mind. I think I'll head back in a couple of weeks to get it shorter. I do like it, though. The boys were worried that I would look really 'manly' but when I walked in, my ds18 said, "Oh, that looks great!" and dh said the same thing. So that's pretty successful in my book :-) I'll try to post a new pic on my profile as soon as I find the camera and upload cords (or whatever those things are called).
