Michelle T
Has anyone tried this? It's a free, online, K-12 math program, they also have reading. http://www.mindsprinting.com It looks very interesting. I'm wondering if anyone here has tried it, and if so, what they think. Mandamom
and have recommended it for a while. The company makes money through advertising on the program. I haven't received unwanted e-mail from them (but signed up with them under one of my alternate e-mail accounts. I really like the placement test which to me is the best part of the program. After you take the placement test you click on the assignment and are given a worksheet to have the student complete. You input the score and as long as it is a good score it gives you the opportunity to move on through the program. The skills have a lot of worksheets and homework to allow for a lot of practice and you can skip (or fast track) those that your child has mastered. There really isn't any review or anything like that as it isn't really a curriculum but more of a tutoring program. It does start at the K level and goes all the way through algebra and higher concepts. I had my 16 year old take the placement test last year just to see how it was and I thought it was pretty good even at that level. So, I do recommend it. It could be a good part of a homeschool math program but would probably have to at the very least be supplemented with something else to add in more periodic review. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
