joannqn
I first heard about Michael Clay Thompson on this board. The grammar, sentence, and practice books have been perfect for my daughter. We plan on continuing through all of the levels. However, I do not understand how to use the poetry and vocabulary books. What did you do with them? How did you use them? Do you just read through them? We got very little out of them except unanswered questions so I'm wondering what I'm missing.
kimajaro
Hi, There is a MCT Yahoo group which is a great resource. You can find it here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MCTLA/ Also, another resource which I have found helpful is on Royal Fireworks website--http://www.rfwp.com/mct.php Scroll down to where it says 'Read Michael Thompson's recommendations for how and when to introduce the parts of the curriculum. BryRon
We are still waiting for the rest of the books to arrive, but I do have this one. When we come to a "stem" word, we talk about it and then she finds 5 words (ones not in the book) and we go over what they mean, and then I have her use them in a sentence. She either already has some in mind or we go look in the dictionary. It's a fun way to get the point across!
