I can't believe dh and I are actually doing this!

Recommended Posts

Some of you know (the exercise thread people) that I signed up for a marathon (26.2 miles) in March. In the past few days, dh signed up for the half marathon (13.1 miles) on the same day.

Now tonight, dh and I both signed up for a triathlon in May. I'm doing a sprint (750 meter swim-14 mile bike -5K run) on Sunday. Dh is doing a 1/2 Ironman on Saturday! That's 1.2 mile swim - 56 mile bike - 13.1 mile run.

Oh boy!

Then dh also signed up for another sprint tri in July but this one is 750 meter swim - 17.5 mile bike - 5K run. I think we'll be working out a lot this spring!

Bravo! Oh how *exciting*!!! May I ask how old you both are? :)

I have started the very slow journey of training for a half marathon and hopefully one day a marathon as well. I'm 37 and know this will be tough, but I just have to do it!! Please tell me I'm not insane. LOL Well, TOO insane...

Please let us know how these go! Oh, such fun.

I'm 39 and dh is 40. He did his first tri at 30, actually on his birthday too. I did my first marathon at 37. I think my first tri was 29?

You can soo do this! Yes it is insane, but well it's just something I gotta do. :) After the first marathon was over, I thought "that was not fun, but it is something I need to do again."

Good for you! You might enjoy Andrew's blog. He's working up to a marathon (just did a HM).

Also, did you know that Cancun has an Ironman in September of this year? Hot time of the year, so definitely not one for folks that aren't locals, but still....

I did triathalons back in the early 80's (cause i'm so ancient and all) but am really enjoying running now. I'm doing the C25K (once my injury heals) and then the Hal's program once I graduate from C25K. If my body supports it, I think I'd definitely like a HM again. I've only done one once - at the end of a 1/2 Ironman tri.

Good for you and keep us updated on your fitness!

that those distances are a "sprint" ...(a 5K sprint!? :tongue_smilie:) I think that is really cool though! How wonderful to work at a goal like that with your dh - that must really help with resolve. OTOH doesn't seem like you need help in that dept!

You go!

Yeah, a sprint! Like I'm going to go that fast! I'll be lucky to finish before they close the course!
