elegantlion
Does anyone buy a student workbook for themselves? Not necessarily to work through, but to have as a reference. We are doing Aesop B and going to start Poetry soon and I find myself grabbing ds' workbook almost daily. I don't refer to the core everyday and I like to be able to see his page exactly. I wonder if anyone else does this. Would it be helpful as we move into Homer next year?
buddhabelly
I know this isn't really what you are asking, but writing Greek is so completely different than writing English that I needed to do all the writing (workbook) in order to really learn it. I have had to do so much copying! I would definitely get myself a workbook if I had to do it over again. I haven't found the need for this in Latin for Children --- probably because my son and I work on it together (except for the tests). HTH a little (probably not) Edited to add: not helpful at all! Sorry. Julie
elegantlion
Actually, Julie that was helpful. Maybe it's just the way I learn/teach best. I have my own workbook for LFC too and it's nice to hear it's helpful for EG, which I plan to use next year.
Mary in GA
When we did CW Poetry I had my own workbook, and I often did the work along with dd. I thought it was fun. Much of it was new to me. Mary

Patricia in WA
Poetry was fun! We did it between Homer A and B. We are still struggling through B but almost done. I am looking forward to Diogenes as I hear it is easier than Homer. I did have my own workbook for Poetry since I know/knew nothing of that subject. I have not gotten my own Homer workbooks but I have been working through the exercises on my own ahead of my dd. HTHs,
Mary in GA
Yes, I thought poetry was fun! Dd did too. However, and this is OT for this thread, I got seriously bogged down with Homer. I have gone through the core and picked out what seem to be the salient points and exercises and try to work through them in our own way. I think the problem for me in the case of Homer was that the workbooks move too slowly through the lessons and broke things down into too much minutiae. Homer was taking up considerably more time than I was willing to spend on it. I have Diogenes and I like the format better, but I have not yet decided whether to move into it or just save the rest of the progym for later doing it in a more condensed format using the D'Angelo book. That is what I did with my oldest. At that time there was no CW! I do have Intermediate Poetry and plan to use it next year.:001_smile: Mary

I know my weakness is to not work through the exercises before hand, I may have to make that a priority. Yes, I thought poetry was fun! Dd did too. I tend to be a detail person but I don't feel like I have to DO everything. That is part of the appeal of CW for me. It's there if you want to do it. I think the CW Homer Core and I are will become very close this summer. :D
