I've been getting emails from ladies in my church who want to be my friends on Facebook. I didn't think I had an account there. I scrolled through all of the accounts with my name, and typed my email on the one with no picture. My email worked! I've read the whole site, but I can't figure out how to close the account. I think I opened it years ago to read my friend's teenage son's account- per her request!

Facebook is NOT my thing, I don't need a timesucker besided the WTM! How do I get this account to go away?!!

Ok, I used the links to "reset my password" to see if I could close it that way. When I reset the password, it said "your account has been deactivated". "Click to reactivate". So, I suppose I'm done! Wonder why I'm getting these friends request emails to another email address than Facebook had. Wierd.

I'm certainly no help, but, ironically, I just came here to ask about something similar. Last Friday I started receiving e-mails saying that people had requested to add me as a friend on Facebook. But I don't even have a Facebook account! I've never signed up for one! So, how are these people able to request me as a friend, and how did they get my e-mail address? My sister also sent me a notice via e-mail requesting me to set up an account so that I could keep up with her through Facebook. I just don't understand. I really have no desire to join. There are a few people from high school who apparently have somehow requested to add me as a friend who I would be interested in finding out about, but the whole thing is just not me.

When someone (like your sister) invites you to join facebook.com, it also asks her to recommend friends for you. The people she recommends are sent a notification that asks them if they would friend you if you join--almost like a pre-friend request. If any of those people say yes, you are sent a notification that they would like for you to be a facebook friend also. It's a way for facebook to entice you to join... a "see how many people on facebook want to be your friend?" tactic.

ETA: Facebook has your email account b/c your sister used it to send you a friend request, but those other people don't have it.

Yep, that is how FB sucked me in. :001_smile: FB kept sending me emails saying that I had 10 friend requests along with thier smiling faces. Then someone I didn't know invited me and THAT sucked me in, I just had to know who it was, so I joined. Turns out that a lot of people let FB upload their address book to invite people they know, they just don't realize that FB then automatically invites EVERYONE in their address book to be their friend. Just think of all the old or business emails you have :001_huh:
