southmetromom
Dear Friends, We have been doing Lively Latin since September. My ds is 10 (just turned 10). I have him do about a page a day -- but, then again, maybe I haven't kept on top of it as we just finished Lesson 3. How do you schedule/pace Lively Latin? I thought ds would love it, but he doesn't. He is bored by the history (even though he's a history maniac -- because he says he already knows all of it... he has been exposed to most of it, I guess.) Any testimonials or ideas would be gratefully received. Thank you, Sandy in CO (southmetromom)
FloridaLisa
My two middle boys (ds-just-turned-12 and ds9) do 2 pages a day. It's usually a lesson followed by a page of exercises (though it often feels like two pages of exercises). We cover more pages if we hit a history lesson or vocab cards. Do you do LL with him? My boys like it, but we do the at least the lesson together and they work on the pages side by side. (Competition can be good motivation with boys!) Alana in Canada
Here's our schedule for next week (4 days). My son is 11 and my daughter 8. He usually finishes before she does, but it isn't overwelming. Vocab Bingo is a game we play--I call out the English, they mark the Latin on their Bingo cards. http://www.teach-nology.com/web_tools/materials/bingo/5/ Vocabulary G: Ex. 12. 7, 12.8 Word Power Ex. G1 Vocab bingo (F&G) Prepositional Phrases, Lesson and Excercise 13.1 Ex. 13.2 and Word Power G2. Shasta Mom
We started in Sept also, and with my almost 10 yo ds, we're half way through lesson 5. We just took three weeks off in December, too. I try to make it about a half hour/four days per week. We do most of the history (which we both enjoy). I work pretty closely with him because he claims he doesn't understand the directions. I have to admit, I really enjoy the program. Lessons 1 and 2 took forever, and now we seem to cruise through pretty quickly....
southmetromom
...and yes, I do most of it with him. I am trying (in general) to help him be a bit more independent, but I am nearby and have read/studied the lesson. I think I am going too slowly -- he forgets what we were doing. We'll pick it on up! Yes, I enjoy Lively Latin quite a bit myself! Thanks again! Sandy
