I thought I'd let you all know that the BBC are having a Darwin season on Radio 4 (to mark the 200 years since Charles Darwin's birth) starting next week. Here is the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/darwin/

There are some wonderful programmes coming up (including a full week of 'In Our Time') and plenty of excellent links.

Saw that! I'm especially looking forward to the In Our Time show as I am a complete IOT junkie. :)

Same here :D I love to have in on whilst tidying the school room. It is the perfect education.

I think you should be able to download the In Our Time podcasts from anywhere in the USA from this coming Monday 5th January (after they have been broadcast on the radio here in the UK). They are probably available as a 'Listen Again' too (in which case you can simply listen directly on your computer without having to wait for a download. BBC broadcasts are normally available for seven days after broadcast although In Our Time broadcasts are usually archived indefinitely; I am not sure what will be the case this time since they are special one-offs.

Please chime in if anyone has found they cannot access these programmes in the past from the USA.

Get well soon Jenn, I always imagined people in California never got colds or flu. ;)

Lorna,

Thanks for the BBC broadcast reminders.

And to Jenn--I often listen to BBC radio programming via my computer here in the US. For example, here is the In Our Time webpage. You can click on the latest program and then on the "listen to" button. Alternately you can subscribe to weekly podcasts if you are inclined. I have no problem accessing BBC radio programming from the website.

Best regards,

Jane

Thank you Jane and Lorna for the info! I download and listen all the time from NPR, and figured I could from the BBC site as well, but it seems too much of a intellectual challenge for me to face today...stupid cold!

Sorry too, Lorna to ruin your image of Southern Californians! Of course we really are all tan, rich, thin, and ridiculously healthy from all that roller blading on the beach boardwalks!!:coolgleamA:

or, maybe not...
