3Rivers
What are some good resources for art/music study for this period of history? (Year 3 in the 4 year history cycle). Thanks. Jamie

Ali in OR
Meet the Great Composers is good for music. We supplement with some library books (eg Venezia). We don't have one source to follow for art--we're just kind of winging it trying to cover some of the artists in this time period. We've touched on Rembrandt, Velasquez, and John Singleton Copley. Mostly reading about them, seeing some of their works on Google Images. I'll incorporate an activity where possible (we have Discovering Great Artists and Great American Artists for this). 3Rivers
Thanks! Or how about this--it would be GREAT to have a comprehensive list of artists and composers by what period of history they fit in. Then we could just go read about each of them dep on where we are in the history cycle. I know that has to be out there somewhere without having to dig too much. Like a good art history book and a music history book.... Or list on the internet somewhere. So just holler if you have seen something like that and I will be your bff. ;) Jamie
Ali in OR
I got help with artists here last March from Eliana. I'm going to try to link the thread for you: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16164
3Rivers
Oh. WOW. Eliana, I am overwhelmed. Thank you so much. Speechless here, Jamie
Alana in Canada
Well, I had been going to link a couple of posts I did on these very subjects, but I think Eliana has certainly given all of us lots of material! Thanks Eliana.
