Chelle in MO
It sounds like it might be infected. I'd take whatever strength of pain reliever I'd use for any other pain. I hope you can sleep tonight and get some real relief tomorrow. Chelle
JenneinCA
Did you call your dentist? Usually they can call painkillers into the pharmacy and get you some over-night relief. I hope you get some help. Jenne in CA

Mommyof4ks
It does sound infected. That happened to one of my wisdom tooth 'holes', and tomorrow you will feel soooo much better after he cleans it and gives you antibiotics. Try calling to see if you get an answering service that can call the dentist to call something in for you, that got me through the night. In the mean time try rinsing with salt water (it may sting a bit but not as bad as the pain now).
CalicoKat
I have some hydrocodeine left from another medical procedure. I'm tempted to take that. . . . my topical tooth gel isn't helping. Heat and Cold both aggrevate --not intense, just slowly builds.
JenneinCA
Take it. That would be what the dentist would give you. I really hope you get some relief. Jenne

Jenne Ahhh, relief. . . . it still hurts if I even lightly bite down, but the throbbing has subsided. I only took half. I'm going to take the other half now and head to bed--after that final load of laundry is in the dryer. :001_smile:

Kris
I know this is probably too late to help you, but the last time I had a horrible toothache and couldn't get to the dentist for awhile, they told me to take one Ibuprofen and two Tylenol -- and it worked like a charm. So well, in fact, I almost forgot I even needed to go. I don't know what all the medical ramifications are of this combination -- I'm sure someone will. I just know it worked and it was cheap. :D
CalicoKat
well, I went to the dentist and an endodentist today. There ws a 4th root in the tooth that had been root canaled approx. 5 yrs ago. :glare: Infected of course. Soooo they opened up the tooth and did another root canal. Tonight my pain is entirely different. Sharp. Intermittent. But I've got drugs. :D

JenneinCA
I am glad you got that tooth dealt with and you have new pain killers. I hope it feels better soon. Jenne in CA
CalicoKat
Is it normal to have some "drainage" coming from my sinuses? It's only on the same side as the yesterday's re-root canal. It's not mucusy or pussy. Just a yellow liquid. No pain today - whew!
