madteaparty
My DD is obsessed with learning Italian but she doesn’t have time in her schedule for classes, and she also didn’t click with the two preply instructors we tried. She’s killing it on duolingo though. Because she already speaks French, Italian comes easier to her. I also happen to know some Italian. I wonder if, getting very simple books (think, the Italian equivalent of if you give a mouse a cookie—a sentence or two per page) and I add this to our read aloud rotation, would be a good way to do a bit more than duolingo. What do you think? If you happen to know Italian books that meet this criteria, please drop a title. Many thanks!! HomeAgain
We did this for French. The company, Fluency Matters was bought out and I cannot for the life of me remember their new name, but the books are controlled vocabulary. Meaning, the first book or two only used 50 or so distinct words. The next couple used between 100 and 200. Each book has a dictionary in the back. The amount ds learned from these was amazing. They offer them in several languages - his Latin teacher has Brandon Brown Wants A Dog, and I banned ds from reading it because he was already doing it in French. 😄He can now if he likes, but I think he's so tired of Brandon Brown. We went through all the stories among others I bought.
madteaparty
Thank you. I found these, wayside publishing. These will do until I get over there and pick some books in person. Thank you!
