wintermom Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I love these special moments as a parent when your kid wants to do stuff with their mom. Ds18 woke me up at 10:30am to remind me I'd promised to go hiking with him. So at 10:35 we hopped in the car after throwing a few hiking things together (e.g., water, cliff bars, gatorade, towel, bug spray and sun screen), and drove to our nearby "mountains." We'd hiked at this place before COVID and really wanted to go back again. It's about a 30 - 45 min drive to the trailhead. It's a simple out and back along the boardwak, up the mountain/hill - using some rope when needed, bushwack to get up to the top, follow the trail along the beck down, hop in the car, drive to the poutine food truck, take a ferry back across the river, stop for soft ice cream and then we're home. So much fun! 24 3 Quote

It's really hard to get them out with me, but this time was a re-do of a hike we did before COVID. I keep trying to get my dc out kayaking and canoeing with me, but they almost never come. Hence the thrill when a kid actually wakes me up to go hike!!! 😂 4 Quote

I want to move there now for sure!! Yes, it wasn't the easiest to roll out of bed after a near sleepless night, but the motivation was high. I stopped at Tim Hortons (Canadian coffee and donut chain) for coffee, protein and carbs to fuel my body before taking on the hiking adventure. 😉 3 Quote
