@math teacher, I'm sorry for the sleep troubles and hope it is better soon!

Good morning!

We are up and getting ready to go to Chattanooga. We will pick up the UHaul this morning. Dd hired actual movers to load and unload everything, which we appreciate since she is on the third floor and ds can't be there to help us.

This evening will involve laundry and tidying the house because we have some company tomorrow.

Good morning! Violin and coffee time are done.

To do:

  • passport appointment for 3 of us
  • laundry
  • figure out dinner (and who might be home)
  • tidy my workroom after a long week
  • laundry
  • work with ds
  • 10,000 steps
  • wash the hockey gear?  Maybe.  I might hold off on this, but it is bordering on needing it.

I missed you guys yesterday! By the time the board was back up my day had snowballed until suddenly it was 9pm and I had time to sit.

Good Morning

Weather is hot for here with 88%humidity so will take pup out early. Will try to set up kiddie pool for pup in back yard

drop dh off at rental house to meet carpet cleaners. He left his car in the garage there to try to cover broken window area and clean up the glass

contact more cleaning companies to get bid and schedule

order groceries

Shop for better fitting dog harness. Pup is a large/barrel chest with small neck so if it fits chest it’s too big on neck.

house clean, my house not rental

pc to friend going through radiation for breast cancer, she is more than half way through radiation.

@math teacher I had a not great sleep night too. I was about to fall back asleep for a couple hours though. But now I don't know if I will go walk since it is warming up fast today.

Continuing the purge. Maybe run a load to the thrift store or start listing on buy nothing.

Work with DH on installing the door at the bottom of the stairs (new post remodel, but the door slab had to be modified last weekend to be 2 inches narrower since it was retrofit to work with existing electrical).

Oil DHs grandma's sewing machine I acquired and see how she sews. She is a pretty green color. I cleaned it up earlier in the week and had to order oil.

Going to see a great local cover band this evening.

Hi all!

Well, my cousin & family did show up at my Grandma's after all - then she called to assure me that they weren't there to vacation, etc. I'm still peeved with the way all of that went down, and that none of the involved parties would listen to the one person with eyes on Grandma, trying to say "look, y'all, planning to visit while she's in recovery mode is a bad idea....."  :sigh:  Thankful power came back, and Cousin is helping with things, but....oof.

So, my day today:

...decide on what's for dinner
...do some school prep
...try to get my friend's quilt basted
...make sure I have thread for it, if not, get some
...organize the fencing gear into the new carry bag(s) and move it all into our bedroom where it belongs
...take DS to meet his GF (or DH is doing that?)
...check in on Oldest, see what he needs
...touch base w/Grandma, remind her she *can* say no if Cousin tries to take her to Galveston and she doesn't want to go (I told Cousin it's a bad idea) (Cousin is not listening to that, at all -- "hey, how hard was Galveston hit?"  "Umm, pretty hard, really; I don't think much of anything has power, not supposed to be back on till Sunday, probably a lot of clean-up still needing to happen...."  "Okay, cause I think we're going to go down there just for a couple of hours, look at the architecture, etc, I thought Grandma might like that...."  (Did you hear a word I said??? BAD IDEA :sigh:)
....keep doing other school stuff
....cook dinner
...eat, watch a movie or something

Have a good day, all!

I have been for a walk with a friend, enjoyed a nice conversation with Ds, and made coffee.

After coffee:
PT appointment ✔️

Go to church and pick up materials that I forgot yesterday. ✔️

Visit mom ✔️

Drop by a coworker’s home to pick up something. ✔️

Dinner is quesadillas.

If I have time, I will do some electronic chores and some meal planning. ✔️

Your cousin is something special, @TheReader.  You may have to be as blunt as a shovel with her.

Passports are done.  Y'all, nobody listens to me.  Actual things said before we left the house/got called in:

"You don't need to bring that." (Marriage certificate)

"we don't need ssn cards"

"you're making copies?  But they're going to give them back." (all the documents)

"we don't need the checkbook"

"my pictures are good for this" (there is a peach bar behind his head)

Actual way this went:

Agent asked for my marriage certificate because of name change.

Agent was happy to see I had originals and copies to send in both.

DS's passport needed an extra form because of a problem last time.  Dh started to fill it out and turned to me to find out what his ssn was.

Each one needed a check for the state department.  I wrote them out.

The pictures were, in fact, not good.  The agent was able to take new ones there.

It's almost like I have done this before for children and myself. 😆

Love the passport story, @HomeAgain!  I've had many similar such things. Funny how that works!

And yes, we were blunt with Cousin ahead of all of this. hasn't helped. Cousin & Uncle both just kept insisting it was fine, and Cousin would be a help - no thought to the extra cost, burden, etc., put on Grandma for hosting this "help" overnight for 2 nights (Thurs night, all day today, tomorrow morning) while her town is still half without power, her nearest grocery doesn't have cold items, very little restaurant/fast food open, and very minimal groceries replaced just yet (literally enough to get her to about Sun/Mon/Tues at the latest most likely).

She's waiting on roofing contractors to come today - that should at least give her the needed excuse to skip the ill-thought Galveston trip.

Howdie, happy Friday!

I have some medium-hard work deadlines today, so I need to get serious.  😛  I also have some high aspirations for finishing things that should have already be done.  We'll see.

With both kids and Auntie 1 working outside the house today, and Auntie 2 having a health appointment, it was just me & the dog for a couple hours, yay!  I wish this would happen when I'm not behind on work, so I could really enjoy it.  😛

Done:

  • Made sure Kid1 was up for work ... she was ... I probably shouldn't check, but she's not that well established in her job yet.
  • Some minor cleaning and dog stuff.
  • A tiny bit of reading.
  • Texted a while with my sister.
  • A tiny bit of client work.
  • Caught up on news, calendar, social media, and emails.

To do:

  • Lots of client work:
    • Review tax return and prepare Q2 financials for client A.  (This was promised "by today.")
    • Review tax returns for client B.
    • Prepare financials & review tax returns & audits for client C.
    • Prepare financials for client D.
    • Whatever else comes up / rises to the top.
  • Yoga etc. / TKD form practice.
  • Try to be crabby enough, but not too crabby, to get the kids to do a bit of house cleaning.
  • Dinner out.
  • Walk the dog.

dinner will be deconstructed cabbage roll things

organized and put away the fencing stuff

DS and GF went from the restaurant back to her house bc of storms coming in, we will pick him up there later on

Oldest wants to get on the antivirals for Covid, so he can return to camp sooner than later, so called to make sure the urgent care will prescribe them (they will), and heading over there now; DH will pick up DS if I'm not able to

Home. He has Rx meds for the symptoms now, an Rx waiting for the antivirals in case his symptoms get worse tomorrow or the next day (she didn't recommend he start it just yet, with only mild symptoms), and a note to not return to work until Tues. He'll let his boss at camp know that, and that of course if he's on the upswing before then, he'll come back sooner, but at least this puts it out there what the doctor said.

Someone on the street behind us is burning stuff with a really stringent smell - not sure if we should turn off the AC for shelter in place or what. Not sure who to call either to find out - non-emergency police line? I can see a heavy haze/smoke, but can't pinpoint any source of it. Or just ignore it (probably it's someone burning brush and downed tree limbs and such, but DH said hopefully not burning downed fence, b/c those boards are treated and the chemicals would be bad in the smoke).

DH is checking if the younger two want to go to boxing or not.

Fencing club still doesn't have power, so no fencing tomorrow.

Registered for a Praxis test. One of five that I have to take. Downloaded and installed the secure browser and ran the equipment check. Ten minutes of busywork, totally worth being able to take the test at home.

Did some meal planning and made a grocery list. Tired, but headed to the store anyway. Need tomorrow for other things.

Called the pharmacy to check on Oldest's antiviral meds - none in stock. In Houston. At all. Calling around every other pharmacy, also none to be found until next week. So, I guess he's going to have to get through w/o it. I think that's likely fine, the rest of us did, but he was hoping to get done/over it sooner than later.

Maybe the hurricane is messing with that? I don't know.

Grandma got a patch put on her roof, 2 roofers coming to do quotes, insurance adjuster comes on Weds; Cousin's Kids are catching fish in the bay and having fun, and Grandma's enjoying that, so that's good.

I think we might watch a movie in a bit.

Everything was smooth with the move today, and we helped her unpack some before heading home.

I've been snacking off and on since we got home because we didn't eat much today. I need to stop!

I started tidying up some, but I have more to do. I'm really sleepy and could fall asleep but I know I'd be awake all night.

Grocery shopped. Saw Ds at Publix. Didn’t buy him junk food.

My dinner was good!  A quesadilla with Italian blend cheese, spinach, arugula, sautéed mushrooms, and chx. Plus half an ear of sweet corn. Dh said he wasn’t hungry, so I am done in the kitchen.

Walked the dog.

Next up: jammies and my book.
