I updated in the Tues thread - we're home, Oldest is home b/c camp has no power or water, we do have power, water, internet (as of last night), our A/C decided it would work properly (last night), so other than some fence damage, we are doing good. Whew! Could have been MUCH worse.

So, today's list:

...finish unpacking
....wash what trip laundry there is (we washed the day before we left, but then we were an extra day, so....)
...check in on Grandma, make sure her house doesn't get any hotter, see if we can do anything
...check in on my sister, make sure she's still okay at her kids' houses, see if she needs to come here
....check in on DH's work friends w/o power, see if they want to come over (work also has no power, so they are all at home)
....check in w/various tutoring appts I had set for this week, see who has or doesn't have power, who needs to reschedule, etc.

....REST
....check what school work I need to do - I'm all discombobulated, so don't really remember what I was working on before I left
....check in on my school families, see if anyone needs anything
...upload pics from our trip, post those
....discuss w/DH should we invite my cousin to come stay here and Grandma to come over here for that visit (a cousin from Ga was coming to see her dad, and then stay w/Grandma tomorrow; Grandma has no power, and not sure where to put them all....we could have them all come here instead?? maybe???)
....figure out food for tonight/who's cooking
....DS has church tonight, so take him to that

Lots of piddly stuff, no real work today. We'll save hurricane clean-up for the weekend.

Fencing update -- I came in 27th out of 33 in my Vet 40 event; 121st out of 158 in my Div 3 event. For me, those were good results (I did well enough to make it to the elimination rounds, which was better than I expected). DH finished 32 out of 65 in his Vet 40, did not make it to elimination rounds in his Div 2 event (he was not fencing well that day at all), but finished 14th out of 202 in his Div 3 event, which is awesome!  I'm so glad we went; we saw 2 sets of really good friends in Ohio, as well, which was great.

Have a great week!

@TheReader, I'm so glad your home is safe and sound!

We don't have a whole lot going on today.  My to-do list is very short:

  • make ds lunch  It was an easy one today: rice, dumplings, steamed bok choy, scallion pancake, strawberries and cookies.
  • take the trash to the dump.  We missed last week due to the holiday and dh's overtime
  • check out the sports store that's going under and see if there's anything we need for sports/scouting
  • violin
  • pick up ds from camp
  • work with ds
  • yoga
  • 10,000 steps
  • dinner: I'll figure it out as we go.

I have the house to myself for a few minutes. One load of laundry working.

Argued with Ds about his phone this morning. We do need to give him more freedom with it, but my mom-gut is telling me he’s not ready for a phone with no parental controls yet. Need to find a middle ground. I have very little bandwidth right now for extra things like this.

Trying to balance all the things.

Home:
Wash sleeping bag and comforter at the laundromat.

Figure out a nice salad for dinner for Dh and me.

Cash for Ds for youth group. Work on digital access to his bank acct.

School job:
Return a call to HR people.

Write out everything with regard to the grad programs and licensure, so I can compare.

Explore 2nd grade resources on the Hillsdale teachers’ portal.

Church:
Call my boss and catch up.
Schedule a meeting

Other:
Drop off some items for mom.

Think about tomorrow night’s AHG meeting and send a couple emails.

Me/fun:

Listen to a podcast m?

Texted my tutoring schedules - one wants to reschedule (still no power), no word  back from the other yet

My sister has power, so going back to her place

Uploaded/posted pics from our trip

DH put the word out to his work friends, no takers yet, but we're willing to have them here if they need/want to come over

Waiting till later in the day to check on Grandma

Howdie, happy Wednesday!

I have more plans today than usual.  Hoping to get a good amount of client work out in-between.

Done:

  • Let the dog out.
  • Took out the garbage.
  • A little housework.
  • Yoga etc.
  • A little client work.
  • Caught up on emails, news, social media, calendar.
  • Woke Kid1 so she can accompany me to the high school.
  • Was folding the kids' white graduation gowns to donate; found some lipstick or something on one of them; figured out how to remove it; it's hanging so the spot can dry.

To do:

  • Lots more client work.
  • To high school with Kid1 to donate graduation gowns & hopefully find my kid's instrument case.
  • Kid1's vision appointment / order 2024-25 contacts.
  • Conference call.
  • TKD class (just me probably).  Should review form video first since it's been over a year!
  • Process clothes in the dryer.
  • Walk the dog.
  • Try to get the kids to clean up their crap before they go to bed.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Checked on Grandma -- she just discovered she also got water in upstairs (that is likely from the rain, surely the waves didn't hit that high!) (maybe from the roof....she lost some shingles....); her friend will bring his wet vac once she gets power back. My uncle is coming down next week to cut up the trees that fell -- someone stopped by offering to do it for her, for $2,000!!!! Good grief. Who would charge that???? Taking advantage (she of course said no).

DH is on a work call, but will ask him momentarily about my cousin coming; Grandma said she's still planning to come visit tomorrow (while Grandma still has no power, lost all the freezer food, still has water, etc.). We'll see what he and they say. Or see if he thinks I can run down there and help her get ready for my cousin....oof. I'm a little perturbed my cousin is still going to go down and stay there under the circumstances.

Got the fencing gear all put away.
