12/28 - Sunday Exercise thread

Recommended Posts

I was on vacation last week, but managed to get in two runs. Even with the really steep hills, it was so much easier for me to run at a lower altitude! It felt really great.

Today, I am back home. I just ran 33 minutes and walked another 10. I was ready to die after the first half mile. I am up around 4000 ft higher than I was last week. I guess my lungs are getting a better work out than I knew.

My only gadget is an IPod. I made a new music mix that I really like, but I miss my C25K "coach". I wonder if I can add some voice-overs; I need someone to tell me that I'm doing a great job and that I really can run that last mile. :D I think that I should get some real running gear for the winter weather, but by the time I get around to it, spring will be here.

Well after a really rough swim yesterday it was a little calmer today. I also picked a more tranquil area of the bay. I swam almost out to the reef (the currents were a little rough out by the reef so I erred on the side of caution) and around the bay a little, then back to shore, then out almost to the reef 2 more times. My arms were much more tired than yesterday but I forgot to note the time before I left so it was at least 30 minutes and maybe 45. My 12yo son came with me on the first foray around the bay and I was really impressed with how well he did.

I'm hobbling a little bit better than yesterday and I'm almost sure this was only a grade 1 tear. Thankfully.

Chai - what is the coach you're talking about? I was doing the Couch25K program also until a couple days ago (got 1/2 way through week 6 day 1).

Good for you guys!!!

I haven't joined in on this thread for a long time!

Today my exercise was different, but it was a great workout! I helped a friend move. She lives on the third floor of an apartment building, so we pulled things off shelves inside and packed them, then carried couches, chairs, boxes, bags, etc. down the 3 flights of stairs and to the U-Haul, then jogged back up the stairs for the next items. Well, I must admit, after a few times of that, I couldn't jog all the way up, but I tried to keep up the pace, to get as much out of this as moving time as I could! :)

I downloaded a set of weekly music and instructions: podcast links here. There are several options; I chose to use the Christian Indie music. The "coach" tells you when to run and when to walk. Sometimes, he adds in a little encouragement or tells you when you are almost there. And it is all free! I don't think that I could have done this program without it.
