gardenmom5 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 (edited) I just cancelled my trip to texas to see my grandkids. I was supposed to go on Thursday. I really wanted to be well enough to go, but I'm absolutely not. I'll reschedule when I'm healthy enough to go. The shingles is now aggravating the EBV and I had to go to the ER on saturday with vertigo (after taking meclizine). All they did was give me a TABLET of 5mg valium (and an IV bag so they could say they did something), so I wasn't going to bother going back today when again, was dealing with vertigo. more meclizine, trying dudeling's vagus stimulator because the vagus nerve is thought to be one of the reason's EBV causes vertigo. then there's the pain of the shingles itself, and all the junk I'm slathering on my scalp . . (aloe and lidocaine is turning my hair green . . , but it helps) and I've had one of my earliest lesions erupt - again. Edited July 8 by gardenmom5 36 Quote
KSera Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Oh no, I’m sorry! I can imagine how disappointed you must be. I was hoping the rash itself was resolving and not causing you pain anymore. I’m sorry to hear that that’s not the case. Does the Epley maneuver work at all for the kind of vertigo you get? 1 Quote
Jaybee Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I'm so sorry! You have been dealing with this case of shingles for a long time! 1 Quote

Not really shingles is 4 - 6 weeks to resolve. (and the pain from the rash can last months. It won't even be considered for post-herpectic neuralgia until it's been three months.) 4 Quote

I do occasionally have a little pain in the spot on my back where the nerve pain started, but I didn't have a rash there. I had quite a mild case, and my rash didn't hurt or anything. But the internal discomfort did, and I was really wiped out for a month or so, energy-wise. It made me realize quickly that I never want to have a "bad" case! Hope you are feeling much better soon! The people I’ve known who have gotten them quickly have had it resolve pretty quickly. The one I know who didn’t got PHN. I’m sorry they didn’t resolve it faster for you. 1 Quote

I have EBV and it has compromised my immune system. I think if i'd had a longer course of antivirals I would have done much better. Instead they did the standard seven days. I went from feeling pretty good at the end of that week, to going downhill within a couple days. 3 Quote
