We've got thunderstorms, but I'm hoping to get in a 5 mile walk this afternoon once the morning clouds clear out.

Today:

  • cut up and marinate the meat for dinner
  • violin
  • tidy room/house
  • work with ds for an hour
  • continue fixing the cookbook binders.  We had several recipes just loose, others in the wrong binders, doubles...It's a whole thing
  • make a board game for tomorrow tutoring
  • 10,000 steps
  • dinner: Yucatan citrus beef bowls

It is sunny and cold this morning.  High maybe 71.

I made a mistake last night and didn't treat a migraine at the first sign.  It got super bad before I went to bed.  Took meds and got ok sleep, but I am still feeling awful this morning.  Sigh.

Lots I should be doing, but until I feel better there is nothing happening.

I hope you feel better soon, @mommyoffive.  Migraines are the worst.  I have had debilitating ones before deadlines before, which was a better incentive than anything else not to procrastinate until the last minute, so at least they were good for something.

I just walked ds14 through his chores.  He got into the habit of slacking off.  Ugh.  Showing him it only took him 4 minutes to make his bed correctly but 20 minutes to do it wrong may have added to his little kernels of truth in his mind.  Or not.  We'll see tomorrow.  😄Attention to detail is the name of the game this summer (and all next year).

Good morning!  We are having rain today too and my joints hurt. Still haven't found cell phone.  Dh was gone on business trip all last week, coming home Friday after 1O pm. Then he is leaving today to go to the national caving convention in Sewanee,  Tn and camping there until Saturday. My son and my daughter and son-in-law are going later in the week there too. Dh will be taking classes mostly. So I will be alone again though I will be getting dinners from kids like I did last week,

  • Watch soccer games maybe
  • Clean up some
  • Finished researching re Edith Wilson, Amendment histories, election law and today it will be John Adams
  • Play lively music starting w/ Fight the Power by the Isley Brothers
  • Phone searching

I hope the phone turns up soon, @TravelingChris.

I got in a 6 mile interval run.  It's an average 12:30 mile, but I'm okay with that.  The humidity is brutal.

DS and I worked together with Latin and handwriting, but his friend came to the door before we hit a bit of math.  Eh, it'll wait.  Summer days are meant for easy friendships.

Howdie, happy Sunday!

The girls want us all to go to the Apple store (after all the discussions and comparisons, they still want macbooks, and I did promise they could choose).  Then they want a nostalgic "just us" dinner at Bob Evans.  Leaving in about a half hour.

I got a little housework done.  Been gently after the girls to take care of their mess areas ... for over a week now ... and they are politely promising that they "will do it."  Really don't want to get bitchy, but if things don't get done pretty soon ....  On the positive side, my less-hands-on girl has been doing laundry, and they've both been good about making food happen, but still ... I vowed to be a stickler come July, but I also don't want to waste this weekend.

I have a pile of work I want to send out later today.  And I at least want to clean up my own bedroom.  (I have the kids' graduation memorabilia on my dresser; need to decide what to do with it.  And get caught up on some personal paperwork stuff so that can be filed.)

I did "yoga etc." and intend to walk the dog later.

I was also hoping to finish the book I've been slowly reading, "The American Eclipse," so I can move on to another book.

And it would be nice if I could listen to some old church sermons and maybe an hour or two of continuing education while things are relatively chill.

It's almost time for me to start working on dinner here, but we're eating a bit late so I have time.

Prep for tutoring tomorrow is done.

Dh wants to come home and have a quick discussion about ds14.  The kid, uh, turned some heads at camp and we realized he's now playing 4 levels above where he was last season. We also realized without significant exercise he's just not happy.  Yesterday he skated 12 miles or so.  So getting him to his happy place might be something we need to do this summer.  Dh found 4 hours a week for him at a substantial discount, with a coach he responds well to.  I don't know if there's anything cheaper.  Our original plan for him was drop ins at our leisure with a coach who knows him well and do a week with a coach who is just fun.  DS likes them a lot, but the fun one is an issue because the rink itself would be at is a trigger for him.  He had one coach a few years ago let him know he wasn't worth scrap and that guy is always there.  DS only goes there when he has to, even though the rest there are fine.

Now that I've written it all out, I know my thoughts.  The 4 hours/week is cheaper and probably would prep him better for the season, which means ds would enjoy it more overall.

My Ds has his vehicle and we are all happy about it. (Though, of course, my mom heart worries.) It is a 2003 with high miles, but we got it from a trustworthy neighbor and the price was reasonable.

Dinner was a success, with more than one going for seconds and eyeing the leftovers, claiming dibs for tomorrow. LOL

DS and I watched an episode of The Newsroom together.  He's never seen more than the first speech, and his verdict?  "It's like The Office meets The Well Trained Mind." 😆

Took medication
Dinner was good! Kitchen is tidy. Dishwasher is running.

Reminded Ds to finish cleaning up his room, or no screens tonight.

Good evening!

We were greeters at the early service this morning, so we had to go in even earlier. We came home after that service.

We ate leftovers for lunch.

I did some tidying up in the house.

I worked on updating the big budget book and paying bills.

I went to the art show and helped take down art and put things away. Several board members were there, and we had a serious discussion about some changes that need to happen. I think the next board meeting is going to be a doozy!

I went to the post office and our discount grocery store. Ds was happy because I got Popcorners for half off. They had a great frozen gnocchi dish on sale for 1.99 (a type from Whole Foods). I got three of them.

Dh wasn't in the mood for a full dinner and ate a bowl of cereal. I had graham crackers and milk, and now I'm hungry again. I might make a protein smoothie. Ds is playing D&D online, so he can make himself something when he finishes later.

Dh and I watched a couple of episodes of Young Sheldon. I wasn't prepared to cry so much. It was season 2, episode 3. A Crisis of Faith and Octopus Aliens.

I picked up two more bills from the post office, so I paid those and updated the book. Doing this budget book has helped a lot, but I think I can do more once the school year starts. I want to get our food budget under better control. It's hard with ds home for the summer.

I talked to my Daddy after he got home from the train and dinner.

Read for a while. Very much enjoying To Kill A Mockingbird. It’s been years since I read it.

Dd called to chat. ❤️❤️

Headed to bed. Gotta get up early to get Ds to the bus at church.
