ScoutTN Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 One last day of training. A fun social tonight. Pack! Set my alarm for 4:15 am! Ugh! 5 Quote
HomeAgain Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Good morning! We're making the drive to go get ds from camp. He gets done tomorrow, but we managed to score a hotel room in the area and will head in tonight. coffee make sure we have all our primary documents (have an appointment tomorrow where we need them) pack lunch drive 5-ish hours, give or take 2 or 3 depending on traffic. check in at the hotel dinner: I'm thinking this adorable little taco shop we found get a good night's rest before the mayhem tomorrow 7 Quote
mom31257 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Good morning! I'm driving a friend to TN to visit a mutual friend who moved there 3 months ago. We'll see her new house and have lunch. It will be a fun visit. I hope you all have a great day! Check back later. 7 Quote
math teacher Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Good morning!! I'm heading out to see my dad in the hospital after my foot doctor appointment. It's not until 3:30, but I'm going to call and see if he can see me earlier. My dad's in stage 4 cancer. He's been short of breath, but his OS is plenty high, so apparently the mass in his lung is causing breathing difficulties. Plans for today: shred laundry shower, wash hair, moisturize bring painting supplies inside so I can get started on the kitchen walls pack cook something for my mom??? water flowers clean a chest of drawers (anyone grow up thinking it was called a chester drawer because that's how our parents said it?) scrub the kitchen counter wegovy shot put the sander away clean barhroom cabinet clean pantry shelves 7 Quote
LifeLovePassion Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I slept poorly. I'm dragging today. I will work either outside (weeding) or inside on my organization project. Need to make a grocery order as well as go to the library either today or tomorrow. I also should work on a couple of tasks for work. I did pay bills this morning so baby steps I guess. I need to go find breakfast now. 6 Quote
HomeAgain Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Sorry you slept poorly, @LifeLovePassion. Hopefully you get better sleep tonight. The documents are in the car, ready to go. That's one less worry. I forgot we also need to move furniture around this morning. We allowed ds14 to have a week of video games in his room directly after school got out. That's over now, and we need to move the small entertainment center back to the living room before we bring him home. 6 Quote
ScoutTN Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 @math teacher Cancer is terrible. I am glad you can be there for your dad. 5 1 Quote
ScoutTN Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 I am tired and this morning’s training is again mind-numbingly boring and tedious. The trainers are mostly reading the training book to us. 🙄😠🤪☹️😬 I used the fact that I forgot my glasses to skip out for a bit. 4 1 Quote
TheReader Posted June 26 Posted June 26 (edited) Good morning, all. Cancer stinks, @math teacher; I'm glad you can be there for your dad some. Re: chester drawers, I wrote an essay with that spelling in some elementary school class -- my teacher corrected it in the most hilarious way, wanting to meet this Chester Drawers, and wondering if I really meant chest of drawers, and it stuck with me ever since. She was so kind and humorous about it, vs. just marking it wrong. @ScoutTN, sorry the training is so dull but at least you finish up today! Yay! My day today: ....coffee ....decide something for dinner ....get started on various pre-trip chores -- change the porch light, make a food plan, charge the charger brick thing, have kids charge their electronic things, make packing list(s), ....not sure what else on that ....do school prep of some sort ...do sewing stuff of some sort ....cook dinner ....take DS to church ....grocery shop for what little we'll need ....check with Oldest if he is or isn't coming down - he has off Friday this week, so may come down tomorrow evening and visit a bit before we take off ...come home, veg out, go to bed Vagueries, all, but it's all pretty flexible so I'll just update what I've done as I do it.... ScoutTN Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 I will be home in 23 hours, Lord willing and the flight’s on time. 5 Quote
TheReader Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Got my first day folders/gift bags done - all stuff I already had from previous years. Yay! Including extras all set to go if/when more students sign up. Currently at 19 students (although 1 in 2 different classes, so 20 folders) out of a potential max of 36. Not terrible, but not great. We usually get a handful around the end of this month, and then I've often had some sign up as late as the first day of class. Decided on something for dinner and took the meat out to thaw. Kids are ready for their boxing class. DS says his GF told hi there's no church tonight, so checking on that. Will be nice to have a bit of a break! Going to start printing stuff for the 1st week I think.... 5 Quote

LifeLovePassion Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Did the lawn mowing edging. Youngest is using the rider on the rest. Set it some homeschool materials for members of our homeschool coop to pick up. Get it out of my house. Making some lunch now. Then I will shower and maybe try to take a nap. 4 Quote

SKL Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Howdie, happy Wednesday! It's been pretty crazy over here work-wise. I have 6 clients who have to complete some pretty involved report submissions by Friday. We like to be a few days early, because the reporting websites can get hung up and make things very hard as the deadline draws near. So today I cranked out client #1 - no problem. Client #2 decided he had to research one more item at the last minute, but after a detour, he got his done. Client #3 submitted part A, no problem, but hit a glitch with part B (still working on it). Client #4 is expecting to have a call in like 15 minutes, and I'm not ready! Client #5 is still gathering data. Client #6 is the one I co-own / manage, so it is not getting much attention yet. This day also included one major transaction closing (about 200 emails), progress on another big transaction (about 50 emails + a conference call), prep of a report for a client's board meeting, and various smaller transactions / follow-ups. And I have at least 5 other things I was hoping to accomplish today. I've been eating junk food and really not taking care of myself this week. But ... it's only 2 more days of this. Now I really need to get back on Client #4's reports. Just needed a break! 4 Quote
TheReader Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Printed 1st Grade Week 1 stuff DH has changed air filters, and I got the kids to start charging/organizing whatever electronics they want on the trip Made a food plan to use up what needs using up, yet leave us with groceries for the day we get back that won't go bad (i.e., use up all the fruit, b/c 10 days is a bit long for them to still be okay, but make sure there are still eggs & milk that will be good when we get back, etc.) Reminded DH about the lightbulb for the porch, he's planning to do that "tonight when it's cooler and dark enough that I can tell if it's working" - code for, yes, dear, I'll get to it.... pausing to make my packing list, then will get 2nd Grade Week 1 printed 3 Quote
TheReader Posted June 26 Posted June 26 2nd grade stuff is printed - week 1 is ready! Whew! I'm starting early b/c I hope to get at least the first 6 wks done before school starts. We shall see. The more I can do now to minimize prep time later, the better. Stopping now so I can cook dinner shortly, eat, veg out, etc. Tomorrow is full-on trip prep, and we leave midday Friday. 3 Quote
SKL Posted June 26 Posted June 26 It's 6pm in my client's time zone. I realized after business hours that 2 of the data points I received today needed follow-up questions. Would have been good if I'd looked at them the minute I got them, but I was doing about 50 other things. Ugh. Well at least we aren't technically late. 3 Quote
TheReader Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Dinner was good - zucchini boats. Taking DS for a practice drive to the park where he's meeting his GF tomorrow, he thinks he finally wants to plunge into driving solo (he's had his license since around Dec or so....). DH & Middle will mow, and I'll put away/organize all of the stuff I printed today and then pack up the fencing gear for travel, then we'll be done for tonight. 2 Quote
TheReader Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Got the stuff for Week 1 put away into my "go to school" bag - it is ready to go. No, Week 1 isn't coming up for over a month, but still. Started packing the fencing stuff for travel, and realized oh, we fence (here) tomorrow night, so, umm......ha! But did *unpack* the golf stuff from the bag we use to travel/fly with our fencing gear. (we use a golf bag and a hard case to better protect everything, but we have never unpacked the actual golf things from it between times....). DH finished mowing -- Middle was asleep. Again. Claims they aren't staying up w/the GF online, but got up an hour before boxing (about 10:45), went to boxing, came home, slept on the couch till almost dinner (about 5?), was up for dinner, then in the 10 - 20 mins after dinner that DH went and started mowing, fell asleep. Sigh. Not sure what to do to reset that.... Anyway, *now* it's time to veg out. 1 Quote
ScoutTN Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 Social was fun. I am as packed as I can be. Getting up at 4:00. Shuttle at 5:00. Flight at 8:30. 2 Quote
mom31257 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 @math teacher, I'm so sorry about your dad and pray you can be a comfort to him during this time! @ScoutTN, I hope you have a great flight back! @TheReader, I need to be as motivated to prepare for the school year as you are. We stayed at my friend's longer than I anticipated, and we stopped at an Amish farmer's market on the way back home. My friend had never seen any Amish in real life and was amazed. After I got home, I did more laundry and cooked dinner. After dinner, I watched the last episode of Geek Girl. Then, I cleaned up the kitchen and made a grocery list. I went to the store, and everything is put away now. Another load of laundry is in the dryer. I am going to find something new to watch. 3 1 Quote
TheReader Posted June 27 Posted June 27 @mom31257 - it's all self preservation. My schedule next year is going to be intense. BUT if I don't have so much prep, it will be fine. Mon - at the co-op all day Tues - tutor in the morning (2 hrs), drive an hour, private 3rd grade (3 hours), drive an hour home Weds - at the co-op, drive an hour, private 3rd grade Thurs - mornings off, private 3rd grade (still w/the hour drive) Fri - off So.....all my prep will be Thurs mornings/Fridays so as not to bleed into the weekend. Now, at this point, most of my co-op prep is just print & go, and the 3rd grade stuff should be about the same, but still. The more I can get done ahead, the less frantic the year will feel. 2 Quote

That is hectic! Thankfully, most of my stuff is at home. I'll have a lot of grading with 40 students. I will be teaching Alg 2, Geometry, Alg 1, Pre-Algebra, Middle School Math, and Physics. I'll do literature/composition, a bible overview, and tutor dual enrollment college algebra with the private student. Mon- Online classes 8-3:15 Tues- Online classes 8:30-11:30 Wed-Online classes 8-3:15 Thursday- Co-Op 8:15-3:00 (time gone from home) Either Tuesday or Thursday afternoon I will meet with a private student all year. I have a couple of students who may come for tutoring some afternoons. I will be very choosy saying yes to after-school kids. Edited June 27 by mom31257 1 Quote
TheReader Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Oh, yikes! Yep, you are just as busy as me, but sounds like a lot more coursework to prep for! Hopefully we both have nice, smooth school years! Quote

I have one new textbook for middle school math, and I haven’t taught physics for several years. They will be the most prep. 1 Quote
