Didn't see a thread, so starting us off...

Today I have:

....coffee
....text/email the 3rd Grade family, see if they want to meet before or after I go to Ohio
....look up hours of a quilt shop I like, pick a day to go, see if my sister wants to meet me there (either Th or F, b/c bad weather T/W)

....update class contact lists, etc. - new student popped up on the registration page
....purge the school bookshelf that I didn't get to yesterday
....fold laundry as needed
....work in sewing room - going to do "projects I want" for the next 2 wks and switch over to some things I've been hired to do when I get back from Ohio
....I'm cooking dinner tonight - chicken legs in the oven, w/some sort of sauce (lemon pepper maybe?) and roast veggies
...after dinner, maybe Forged in Fire if the kids are up for it - they go to boxing tonight b/c DH can't do the lunch class today
...if not, TV w/DH and then head to bed

Have a good day, all!

Good morning!

  • 10,000 steps
  • violin
  • coffee
  • prep for tutoring
  • go to the grocery store.  I'm thinking brats on the grill for dinner tonight, or maybe pork chops.  It'll be hot outside but I have no idea who is home to eat or not.
  • tutoring all afternoon until dinner time
  • look for pictures.  The full name of the child was released by the school and we realized ds did know him more than he let on.  They had been teammates for a while as kids and while they weren't in the same friend group at school, they were friendly.  The parents have asked if anyone has any photos to please share them with his family.  I know I took a ton of them playing, but they're on a separate hard drive.
  • make packing lists/begin piles with ds for summer camp.  Tomorrow I need to get him more hockey underwear and socks.

Good morning, everyone!! I'm having coffee, already did today's shred. I could spend an hour and get it all done at once, but it really shortens the life of the shredder. I've had this one for several years now. Today's plan:

more coffee-done

laundry-done

work outside-done

dishes-done

Bible and prayer

read Kindle book

bake a carrot cake for my dad

buy paint and wainscoting-bought the paint

scrub kitchen sink-done

clean the walls in small hall-done

clean cabinet in bedroom

clean a chair in the bedroom

fill medicine organizer-done

get groceries for mother in law-done

pick up hearing aids for mother in law-done

Good morning!

Ds was up early this morning. He feels achy and has a low-grade fever. I had a friend coming over soon, but she wants to wait until later this week to make sure the rest of us aren't sick.

I'm supposed to have my dad, sister, and BIL over for lunch tomorrow, so I'll have to check and see if they want to hold off, too.

I need to rethink my day now that she isn't coming over.

Hope DS is feeling better soon, and the  rest of you don't get sick, Amy!

Did my electronic chores - emailed the 3rd grade family; emailed 2 "interested" but haven't registered yet families; emailed one that just signed up - I went to check class counts and it was higher than I thought, turns out one student registered for both 1st & 2nd grade. She was in 1st grade last year, so emailed her mom to find out if that was on purpose (I've had kids do that, b/c mom wants kid out 2x/week) or not. Once I find out, I'll update the class contact lists accordingly.

Texted my sister and we planned a date for going to the quilt shop. After Ohio, so that works. Gives me time for my toll tag to arrive for the new car, too, so I don't have to take the annoying route down there.

Remembered in reading through y'all's lists, I need to prep for tomorrow's tutoring, so doing that now and eating breakfast before the next thing.

Good morning!

I am again sitting on the front porch of the rental cottage, enjoying my coffee and the birdsong. And not really having a to-do list! Vacation is nice, even when it’s just a couple of days!

Dd is still asleep. So glad she can rest this week! Later we’ll go walk and explore the Main Street area of this little town. Maybe out for late lunch? Plenty of food here for dinner.

We’ll probably watch a movie tonight. Got a Britbox subscription (for a month).

5,000 steps done.

Tutoring for today prepped.  I have had one cancel and I don't blame her.  It's the last week of school and everyone's brains need a break.

The home is mostly tidy.  Ds has a friend over but they have promised to be little church mice - quiet and discreet.  I have a feeling that'll last about 15 minutes before they run out the door to swim at the other kid's house.

Violin is done.

Purged 2 of the 3 shelves in the bedroom, which was sufficient to get the 3rd grade stuff onto the newly emptied spaces. yay! Stopping there for today.

Eating something, then either a nap or sewing time. Probably a nap....we shall see.

DH reminded me the weather this week may mean I need to reschedule Weds K meeting, again. I'll wait till day of to see what the weather has done/is doing - "the Houston area" is a pretty big swath of the state, so cancelling now when the rain may mostly be closer to the coast, or south of us, or north/east of us.... is a little premature.

texted a friend to schedule a phone call - tonight after 6 her time. Yay!

Ugh! Dd has been fighting allergies plus a cold she got at camp. Sore throat began today, so I sent her to the doc in a box for a strep test.

She loves camp, but can never stay well there. Shared sleeping space, not great food (not enough fresh veg and fruit), long and busy days. They do get time off every weekend, but she is generally out and doing with friends and not really resting. She does take vitamins and probiotics.

Also hoping I don’t get her crud, as I drive home tomorrow, then will be in Michigan for a week for my new job. No time to be sick!

Tutoring done.  My kid was so quiet I didn't even hear that his friends came in and out and it was an entirely different child upstairs with him when I finished.

And I'm a little frustrated, but it's nobody's fault.  DS and I had a really important appointment this week and I just got notification that it was cancelled due to hardware issues.  This means either hope it's fixed in the next few weeks and we can get a new appointment with the current backlog from the issue.....or making an appointment 2 hours away and devoting an entire day to getting it sorted.  I'm waiting, crossing my fingers, and hoping dh or oldest ds can relay an update about it tomorrow.

@ScoutTN, sorry dd is sick and hope you stay well!

@HomeAgain, yuck! I'm sorry you are forced into those choices. I hope things work out better than they could.

I made dh's favorite cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I was asked to serve in the kid's church during the early service yesterday and didn't have time to make them for him yesterday.

I rescheduled the lunch for Saturday l. Ds is feeling some better and the fever is lower than this morning.

I watched some Little House.

Leftovers for lunch

I made a couple of phone calls about some business. We had monthly payments on a hospital bill put on the credit card every month, and I realized it wasn't on this month's or last month's bill. I called the hospital, and they said we don't have a balance. We only paid about $1200 on a $3700 bill. They couldn't explain why it's gone, but I'm glad!

I caught up on the big budget book since I hadn't done it in quite awhile.

We watched a recap of  The House of the Dragon season 1 and watched the first episode of season 2.

Strep test was negative and doc prescribed a few days of a steroid to help clear Dd’s cough.

I am gonna make supper and find something for us to watch.

Hi guys, happy Monday!

I got a bunch of work done yesterday, but then I didn't get decent sleep.  So today has been rough.  Unproductive, stressful.  And I promised a few things to my clients "by today" which are still not done.  So that means another late night or very early morning.  😕  Nothing new!

This is the week of my kids' annual culture camp.  This "camp" is for all ages.  This is when they meet up with a lot of friends who have an adoptive history similar to them.  A lot of these friends are now adults, or at least old enough to drive, so they are presumably hanging out without parental supervision etc.  I hope they all display reasonable maturity this week.  🙂

Dinner turned out good! I just put olive oil on some chicken legs, sprinkled liberally with a honey-lemon-pepper seasoning mix, and baked @ 400* for an hour. YUM! Did some cut up squash & some mini sweet peppers roasted the last half hour as well. Everyone liked it, and Middle can use the leftover chicken for whatever he cooks tomorrow.

Got going on a sewing project - I'm attempting to make a skirt. I sort of have a pattern. If it works out, I'll let y'all know!

Watched Alone with Dh, now trying to gather children and watch Forged in Fire. We'll see, if not, DH & I will watch either Fallout or Masters of the Air.

I made dinner for the boys before my hip-hop exercise class.

I made a salad and baked potato for myself when I got home.

Dh and I watched two episodes of Young Sheldon.
