Up early/posting early so we can head out - today's plan:

...COFFEE
...stop at the Urgent Care, with Oldest on FaceTime, so he can give approval for us to pick up the needed Referral
...head up to the Urologist, conveniently located halfway between us and him, for his appt this morning
...along the way, call the insurance and make sure that a referral from an Urgent Care doc, vs his PCP (that he doesn't have) is enough to cover the specialist visit (fingers crossed!)
...hope it's not scary news, &/or that we can do any other needed testing today
...make sure the doctor says it's okay for him to go back to work at camp
....send him back, us come home

Depending how much of the day that all takes, then add:

....quilting?????
.....take DS to church???
....grocery shop??

Veg out, go to bed

I think the tv is on the fritz.  It's sometimes recognizing the remotes, sometimes turning the sound off, won't switch between Apple tv and cable...I'm hoping it's just the power strip that is faulty but I know when dh finds out he'll be thrilled to have a reason to get the tv he has been wanting.

Coffee, laundry, and dump run is done.  Laundry is done and folded.  I lesson planned for the next few weeks for my 'extra' kids, making sure to continue to hit a few tricky skills in different ways each time.  Lunch today was chickpea power bowls (with hummus, avocado, various veggies, lemon, and goat cheese).  I made the mango salsa for dh's dinner (chicken wrap) and still need to go to the store for dinner bread/stuff for ds.

It's high sun right now so I'll wait on the garden and run.

Started some sheets in the laundry.

Did my tutoring session notes and cleaned out my tutoring bag. It will become by school bag.

Culled my inbox.

I found out ds, who biked to visit a friend, ended up going through a dangerous intersection going the way we asked him to.  It's usually very calm there, but it's currently torn up and we didn't know.  And I know this because the two of them asked me to pick them up from the movie theater, where they went for an application, and take them back to the friend's house -a full 4 miles away.  They decided it was too dangerous to bike so they walked the 4 miles instead.  In the words of his friend, "I didn't want to get hit by a truck again."

"What do you mean again?"

"Oh, I was hit.  It was a really expensive ride to the hospital.  $1600."

"Are you alright?  When was this?"

"A while ago.  Back in May."

Long story short, I have an extra kid at my house right now and a promise to drive him back later.  I will not be going on a run today.

Thanks, all! Home and have napped -- turns out while Oldest  never  had back pain to go along with it, he passed a kidney stone (which, did you know that means "passed from the kidney and is now hanging out in the pelvic region"?? I thought it meant "passed from the body" and *that* was the painful part). Anyway, he's past the worst of it, they prescribed a med to help it exit the rest of the way, he went back to camp (and picked up his med on the way), and other than "rest today" (and "keep drinking lots of water") has no restrictions.  We had a nice lunch after the ER visit and before he took off back to camp. ❤️

(oh - we ended up at ER, b/c insurance said a referral from the urgent care doc was not sufficient, it MUST come from the PCP, or we'd pay for the whole visit, all the tests, all the imaging, etc.; the urgent care doc encouraged us NOT to delay the visit but to go to the ER instead, and that's better w/Oldest's work schedule anyway, all done in a day vs. appt, return for lab work/tests/imaging, return for answers, etc. and ends up likely cheaper maybe).

So, that's done. He's on the young side for them, but there is family history and he's not outside the realm of normal.

Anyway - DS is not going to church, but IS going to visit his GF, so we're taking Middle to the Asian market/grocery near there, do our grocery shopping & get ingredients for the homemade ramen he wants to try making, pick up DS, come home. Then, veg out.

@LifeLovePassion I hope your SIL is doing okay.

A severe thunderstorm just went through and we have damage. An oak tree dropped a huge section of tree on my shed in back yard. The roof is damaged severely. Dh is out taking pictures and looking more  closely. My canoe that was mounted on the outside is laying on the ground.  It’s still raining heavily and the power is out. Ugh

@TheReader SIL is doing good. Took a nap after we got home and ate a bit. Staying on top of pain meds and has alarms set for them I'm spending the night and will commute to work from here (only a little further than from home). My teens will come spend the day here tomorrow to fetch food, drinks, ice packs and whatever else is needed.

Sorry to hear about your ER adventure.

@TheReader, I'm glad the medical stuff is figured out and is something manageable! Sorry he is going through it though! Dh had one, and it was not pretty.

@history-fanI'm so sorry for the damage you have, but I'm glad you all are okay. Praying nothing else happens from the rainfall.

@LifeLovePassion, so glad your SIL's surgery went well.

I have missed you all and hope to get time to go back and catch up on everyone's happenings.

I am sitting in a hotel in St. Ignace, MI. We head back to my MIL's tomorrow in southwest Ohio. We have had a great time! We spent 2 nights in Wheaton with our friends. We visited a great museum at Cantigny Gardens with a wonderful outdoor display for D-Day. We found a board game store and bought a little game called Trails, which we like a lot.

We spent a day in Door County and hiked in a wilderness state park there and explored some small towns and a light house area. We went to Lambeau Field and the National Railroad museum in Green Bay before heading north up the shoreline of Lake Michigan through Wisconsin. It was beautiful along there.

We spent the night in Munising and took a boat tour of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, which was absolutely amazing! Then, we headed up to Whitefish Point to the Shipwreck museum and learned about the Edmund Fitzgerald and others. We spent today on Mackinac Island.

It's been a great trip!!

Shopped for clothes and found some good things, I think. Tried everything on again when I got home. I detest clothes shopping.

Made a list for tomorrow.
Put trash and recycle bins at the curb.

Heated up a frozen burrito for dinner bc I had the yummy short ribs leftovers at lunch.

Next up:
start the dishwasher ✔️
read to unwind
listen to a podcast?

I have lots to do tomorrow and need to run a couple of errands early in the day, but I don’t have a set time to be somewhere until the evening, so I can sleep in a bit.

Very weird to be alone (with just the dog) in my house! Can’t remember when I’ve had three days and two nights by myself since having children.

@mom31257 I am going to have to take the Praxis core exam in math to get my teacher’s license. 😱😱😱 I will need your help! The last time I did math that wasn’t just arithmetic was over 40 years ago - and I was not good at it then!

Not sure why I need to pass an exam on high school math to teach 2nd grade…

@mom31257 Love the picture.  I am glad the trip is going well.

@history-fan I am so sorry to hear about your storm damage.  I am glad you guys are ok though.  I  hope you get power back soon.  We have had so many storms and tornadoes this year.  Scary.

@LifeLovePassion I am glad your SIL's surgery went well.  She is lucky to have you and your teens.
