Ginevra Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) When I was in Ireland, I went into this photography gallery for Peter Cox. On the wall, there was a massive canvas print of Small Skellig. It is absolutely majestic and I love it so much. Of course I did not purchase it there because having it shipped home seemed absurd and it is €750. I have never spent that much on a piece of artwork, not least because I do my own artwork. But I loved it enough that I bothered to look it up once home and, don’t ya know, they will ship it free anywhere in the world. So now I really, really want it. I have not hung anything on the wall in my family room in (literally) twenty-one years, because I could never decide something I liked enough to spend money for it and want to have it there for interminable number of years. But now I have. I want that Skellig photo! I’ll try and drop a link in here so you can see. Edited June 7 by Ginevra 4 Quote
Rosie_0801 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Get it! Drink crappy coffee for six months if you feel you need to do penance. 😛 Quote
Lecka Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Just get it! It’s for the family room. It’s a rare kind of purchase. 2 Quote
marbel Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) I would buy it and I am cheap. Also, my daughter is an artist and we have plenty of her art to hang, but she once told me it would be weird to have only her art in the house. (Purely a matter of opinion of course but I value her opinion as my daughter and an artist.) It's beautiful! Think of it as supporting an artist, not spending money on yourself. Tap Posted June 8 Posted June 8 It does no good to live a life that does not have moments of joy. The things we spend our money on, should bring us joy. I try to not think of how much individual items cost, but instead, thing about how much joy that item will bring me. A $7 coffee will bring me joy for an hour or so. A nice coat, will get worn for a few winters. A nice car only brings me joy when I am sitting in it. People often don't thing about how much money they are investing per mile or hour. It is a common thing for people to spend money and the value decreases over time to eventually have no value at all. Art work, that you hang in a common area of your house, will bring you joy for many, many years. It can even retain its value. That is absolutely worth spending that much money on to me. I do assume you can afford it, since you are asking. That is only a couple of car payments and you will enjoy it for many more hours, that you will in a car. 8 2 Quote
QumaCote Posted June 8 Posted June 8 It is fantastic!! Buy it!! When you think of how many years you will have it, the cost per day is negligible. 2 Quote

Soror Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I have done something similar with various items because I can't find what I want I just do without. It drives dh crazy. When I finally find something I love it can be hard to pull the trigger. I'm working on getting over my hesitance. 3 Quote

Go big!! 😉 Yes; I am going to log into my computer so I can ensure I am getting the correct size. I’m getting Grand Masterpiece size on canvas. I am not home at the moment and I don’t want to try and make that kind of purchase from my phone; I’m too paranoid that I will mess up! 2 Quote

Frames make a big difference in showcasing the art and in making the room look more finished. 2 Quote

I’m going to get the canvas gallery edge, so it won’t be framed but it will be finished and ready to hang. 🙂 3 Quote
DawnM Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Ok, I admit I was expecting something in the thousands of dollars. This is not that. I would get it. 1 Quote
