Teaching3bears Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I want to find a cabin to rent for a week or two that is on a property with multiple cabins and nature trails and maybe a lake or swimming pool. I want it to be in nature but not a secluded private property. I am googling but only coming up with airb&b type situations where someone is renting one cabin or house that they own and I don’t want that kind of set-up. Quote
lmrich Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Not helping you with your search but this is what you are looking for: https://www.yelp.com/biz/serenity-cove-lakefront-cabins-hiawassee I am not sure they are even open still. We stayed there with 5 families and had the best time! Our group picture was on their website for years! Happy vacation! (State parks might be a good option for you, too.) Quote
HomeAgain Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Look for campgrounds. Many often have cabin groupings and the amenities you're looking for. Quote
cintinative Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) We stayed at a Jellystone campground that was sort of like that, less the hiking trails--but it was down the street from Mammoth cave where we did the hiking. It did have a pool though and lots of different housing options. We have also stayed in NC in a cabin that was part of a larger group of cabins (no pool though). Innisfree Posted June 7 Posted June 7 State parks fill that niche here admirably, though I imagine private campgrounds do also. Quote
marbel Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I'd look at your state parks. Here in PA, many of the state parks have nice cabins with furniture and appliances. Of course I don't know what other states have that sort of setup. Or, as has been said, google cabin resort 1 Quote
Spryte Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) We stayed in a cabin near Gatlinburg like that. I think it was through Smoky Mountain Cabins or Gatlinburg Falls Resort? It’s been a long time, so the details are fuzzy, but it was like a compound of cabins, and I am fairly sure there were trails. Not 100% on the pool, though. You might try googling cabin resorts, like PPs said. Edited June 7 by Spryte Quote
Arcadia Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Search for cabins, state park or national parks e.g. of search results I get ”Alternative Camping California State Parks also has alternative camping, such as rustic cabins, cottages, lodging, tent cabins, floating campsites, and yurts. “ “If you’re not exactly the camping type, we have four cabins available for rent just across and up Highway 4 from the park entrance. Each cabin has a kitchen with basic kitchen appliances and tableware, a living room, two bedrooms and one bathroom, and will sleep 6-9 people, depending on your selection. Linens are NOT included with the cabin rental so you must bring your own towels and bedding. Two vehicles are paid for with the cabin rental fee” 1 Quote
73349 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Maybe "cabin camping" + location. "Cabin camping Poconos" got me to a large site in Pennsylvania, for example. Quote
silver Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Are you looking for rustic cabins or vacation cabins (with bathrooms, kitchens, multiple bedrooms, etc)? For vacation cabins: At the more vacationy areas of our state, there will be resorts that are run like hotels. They have units that are like townhomes for daily rental along with typical hotel rooms and swimming pools. They might have a few trails and rentable/borrowable gear for activities, but they're also so close to state parks and public beaches, that you can have more options than just the resort grounds. If you know where you want to be, search for the name of the area plus resort. For rustic cabins: Check your state parks. Many state parks near us have what they call camper cabins. They're typically one room cabins with bunk beds (twin over full), a table to eat at, and electricity. There's a campfire ring and picnic table outside the cabin, and shared bathroom facilities (sometimes drop toilets, sometimes ones with proper plumbing) within a short walk of the cabin. Quote
Innisfree Posted June 7 Posted June 7 3 hours ago, marbel said: nice cabins with furniture and appliances Just clarifying that the state park cabins we’ve rented have been of this variety, not rustic except, sometimes, for the basic building style and decor. They’ve had living rooms, kitchens equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, though generally not dishwasher. Soap, towels, dishes were provided. Different floor plans are available, depending on the number of bedrooms you want. The plumbing is fully functional, if not fancy: no walking to an outhouse or shared bathroom at night. We’ve found them comfortable. Definitely check what’s available in the area you want to visit. 1 Quote
Elizabeth86 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Check out Jellystone Campgrounds, maybe KOA and many state parks have this set up. Quote
