Fanny fufu joined us today. She is a minirex, palomino colored. I love bunnies! Adore them. We kept them for years when the kids were young, and have missed having one in the house. Today when we were at Tractor Supply for a bag of soil, there were three 4H youngsters selling some young ones. I couldn't resist.

She will be kept on aspen shavings, and her litter composted in my new compost bin so she will feed my garden. This is my practical reason for having her. Mostly she is here for me to pet and love. Our sons in Kzoo said they will be happy to keep her when we want to travel, but my mom is also quite taken with her so there might be a kerfuffle about that.

Having gotten Mark to easily acquiesce to my bunny longing, I wisely did not pursue also asking for chicks and ducklings! 🤣

I had a mini lop as a pet years ago, and she was a riot. Very feisty and playful. Today is not a good day to be thinking fondly of bunnies though, as I just got back from surveying the damage in my garden and thinking I'm going to just rip everything out and plant grass. It's so discouraging. I've gardened here 24 years, and they have never been this insatiable.

I am so sorry. They really are destructive stinkers! My raised beds are 30+" high because of them, and also the ground hogs.

@livetoread we have used this with good luck. Our problem is mostly with deer though…

Thanks! Deer are a menace here, too.

Yesterday I watched a tiny bunny venture out into our yard from a shrub. Its little wobbly hops were the cutest. Last year a doe hid her twins in our yard and we watched the fawns for several weeks. I swing between smiling at the varmints and their cuteness and wanting to get a shotgun.

Oh, she's adorable! We have (well, my Middle has...) a mini rex named Duncan. We got him as a one year old, neutered, litter-trained thing b/c his owner couldn't deal/didn't have time. Middle keeps  him inside, in a pen in his room (he free roams the room, but not the whole house). He uses old blankets, though, for bedding, and then we bring the outdoors in. The litter box I don't know what he puts in there....that does get composted here, too. Makes great stuff!

Ours is gray and white, I don't know what you call that in rabbit language. He's super pretty! Does not like to be held, but will cuddle with Middle, and comes to the baby gate to say hi when I stop to visit (not for anyone else though). Anyway, enjoy! Fanny Fufu is lovely!!
