Things to do before you're 30...

Recommended Posts

Dh is going to be 30 next mo. I've been planning this b'day since we married nearly 10 yrs ago, & now I'm feeling panicky, lol. Basically, I wanted it to be a series of events...things he should do before he's 30.

The only thing I'd actually thought of was renting a classic Mustang, his favorite car. I haven't called about that yet, but from what I've seen online, I doubt we'll be able to do that--$$$, lol. I mean, of course it would be.

Anyway, I'm trying to make a list of things one should do before he/she's 30--fun, easy, preferrably inexpensive. Luckily, he's done the big things. Maybe I'll make a list, put checks next to the ones he's done, & we'll do the rest together, for ex.

So he's been to Europe, bought a house, gotten married, had kids. His dad has a band--I could arrange to have him play in it, & we could say, "played in a band."

We went to Canada on our honeymoon, & he's been to Mexico on a mission trip.

We've been to a wine tasting, & he proposed to someone he'd never dated.

What other adventures can you think of? That could be accomplished in 1 day preferrably but no more than 30?

TIA!

Parachuting?

Now I have parachuting on my list of things to do over the age of 75!

Things to do before you turn 30, how about...

change careers - check

play strip poker, or since this is the WTM you could make it strip trivial pursuit.

I'd do this! But only because I love Trivial Pursuit and among the people I know, I'd have a good chance of winning. I'm a little shy about being seen nekkid. Wait! That means I'd have to see other people nekkid! Scratch that! No strip anything for me:blush:

Ya know...I'm not sure it would be quite in the spirit of our housing arrangement right now anyway....

I can't think of anything he hasn't done so far that he can't do after he's 30. I wasn't even married before 30, didn't have dc before 30, but I did go rock climbing and rapelling before 30. Good choice in my case, because I'm not likely to do that now (not a jock, for one thing.) You could do that in a day.

So, my suggestion would be to go rock climbing and rapelling. However, I should mention that I had no dc when I did that (that is obvious from my first paragraph, but I want to emphasize that).

My dad first went on a trapeze at age 74, so that one can definitely wait.

I just did yesterday for my 30th (even though I'm going to turn 31 in a week or so..) That was high up on my list.

Good luck on his birthday - how fun! :)

I recommend looking at tattoos on those in the geriatric set, first, though, especially ones they got before 30. Just so you know what it's going too look like in 40-60 years.

Well, I was thinking of a private strip trivial pursiuit party with just dh.

Ya know, there are some of us who actually obsess about things like that. Which is why mine is on my ankle... at the point I have saggy, baggy ankles, I'm thinking I'll have larger issues than how the ink looks. And I'll probably be wearing socks a lot. Old, baggy people seem to like socks.

As for things to do before 30... I can't think of a single thing that's better pre-30. Really. (ok, maybe staying up late, but he's in seminary and you have kids, so he's probably been doing that all along)

Good place for it! I'm just not going to go have a bunch of needles to get a picture I'll probably get tired of. Tattoos were not cool when I was a teen, and I just haven't been able to get into them.

However, I did live in London, Ontario a couple of times years ago, home of a guy called Snake who was trying to get into the book of world records for the largest percentage of tattoos (I don't think he's made it.) He shaved his head bald and we'd see him hanging around downtown sometimes as we drove through--every part of his skin you could see was covered with tattoos. That's more tattoos than I recommend.

See if a friend of a friend would let your DH drive his cool Mustang. Put the word out on the grapevine.

Is he published? Maybe you could submit something he's written to the appropriate type of publication and see if it is accepted.

Maybe he would like to make teA in an unusual location outdoors: on the beach, etc.

Go skiing? Hang gliding? Have voice lessons and perform somewhere? Jet-skiing? Sailing?

See a great piece of art he's always admired? Take a special trip to a museum in a big city not too far away.

Attend a lecture by a specialist in his field that will fire his imagination and enthusiasm. DH loved hearing an astronomy lecture at a nearby university by a visiting scholar. His first degree was in a related science, and astronomy has always exercised a fascination for him.

What a good wife you are to do something like this for your DH. He is a lucky man.

If he likes cars, is there a place like Bondurant? It's a driving/racing fun day. They learn the car for a couple hours then get to race a corvette. My dd loved, loved it! I thought he was gonna have a heart attack when he got this for Christmas a while back.

Or does he like shooting? There's tactical training places around here, but not sure where you're at.

LOL--what guy *wouldn't* want to race a corvette? But no, he's not particularly into cars. He's a cozy-up-by-the-fire & read kind of guy.
