mom31257 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Is anyone willing to share the program or system your co-op uses for recording/reporting grades? Quote
Lori D. Posted May 14 Posted May 14 No co-op-wide program or system, because most of the K-12 co-op classes are not graded. We have a mostly-enrichment-based co-op, rather than an academic-based co-op, so no need of grades in most classes. I teach high school Lit. & Writing classes for credit on the transcript, so I do need to give parents a way of awarding a grade -- and parents award the grade, not me. I give them something to work with: an end of semester scoring sheet that includes a suggested grading scale. The scoring sheet lists the total points the student earned for attendance/participation in lit. discussion, plus score for each writing assignment (which was scored along the way and handed back with feedback). 1 1 Quote
mom31257 Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 @Lori D., thank you! I do something similar with my online classes. I use a Google spreadsheet so they can view grades, missing assignments, etc., at any time throughout the year. I'm teaching 3 classes in a new co-op next year. This group was in a co-op that used a software program for assigning homework, emailing parents and students, and recording grades. That program is fairly expensive, and they are looking for something else. I just showed them many of the features in the free version of Google Classroom, so they might use it. 1 Quote

I only used it for one class, but I used Google classroom and it worked well. I liked that you could copy everything over to a new class, so if you do the class more than once, everything can roll over. 1 1 Quote

I've taught in a co-op like that with my kids attending, but we didn't charge tuition, pay the teachers, etc. We will teach the academic core classes for high school and do all the grading because that is what the parents want from this co-op. Dmmetler Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I use Google classroom for my classes to share files, etc. Most of my classes aren't graded, but for the one that are, it's easy for me to add grades in. 1 1 Quote
