has anyone else noticed this?
BB, amazon, the apple store - all have the same price for the SAME ipad I'm looking at.  Then I go check Costco. (online and in store since those prices can vary).  >$100 more. . . . which leaves me asking. . . "why?"  what am I missing?   it's wifi- not cellular, so that's not it.  apple-care is extra, so that's not it . . .

I'm comparing stats, and I can't find anything.

anyone have suggestions?

Is there any benefit from the apple store vs amazon?  (amazon I get at least 5% back on all purchases, and if I "delay" shipping - I get another 6% back-in the form of a gift card.)

Just check who the vendor is. If it's apple, amazon, etc. you're golden. If it's some two bit odd vendor, be cautious.

You can look on camelcamelcamel to see if your price represents a deal.

I have a local apple store - I can go in so I can leave with it (maybe, the website says I'd have to wait until thursday to pick it up, which makes me think the one I want might not be in stock.  And it's the apple website.
amazon is shipped from amazon
they're the same price for the same features.

QUESTION

how do you listen to movies/videos on an airplane when you can't actually plug in earbuds/headphones?  (or can you?)

Bluetooth or use the USB C audio jack adapter. I have the adapter since I don’t really like using airpods and prefer wired headsets.

I don’t think there is any difference regarding whether you buy from Best Buy, Apple, Target, Amazon or any other retailer.  Just keep your receipt if you buy from anywhere else other than Apple since they do ask for receipt when doing a service covered under warranty. The warranty is typically from when you buy and not when you register the unit.

Interesting.  I'd never heard of this.

The white ones are Apple products. The gray/black one is a third party product that allows me to charge and plug in a wired earphones at the same time. I use the lightning adapter for iPhone 7 series and up.

Yes we use the adapters. My ds uses it on tablet, phone, etc. My ipad is old enough (shh) it has the circular audio jack. Or you can do bluetooth if you like.

I hate shopping - I spent too much time on this today, and finally had to take a break.  I'll try the apple store tomorrow.

looking at either a 9th gen or a 10th gen (it has a bigger screen). It works out to be two - three months worth of piano lessons (or one guy I was looking at . . ONE month of one hour lessons) - so it will pay for itself.

If anyone has experience, I'm all ears.

I like to order computers, cameras, drawing tablets, etc....here.   They are wonderful, and you don't pay taxes on your orders.

I wonder if Costco charges more to make up for their great return policy that people might over use with something like an iPad.

I was thinking that too.  But there is more of a limit on return time with electronics.  (And big screen TVs purchased around superbowl time can only be returned if they're in an unopened box. - like prom dresses must have their enormous tag still on it.)

I did keep trying to figure out if it had more memory or unlocked cellular, but I didn't see anything.  Possible I missed it.

apple+care is about $20 cheaper through them.

eta: and today - the price is back to the same as everyone else . . .go figure.  possible I missed something.

Well - considering the ipad 10th gen has a usb-c (I have to be able to use a usb-b <-> usb-c) and the 9th gen does not . . . that seals it.  It has a bigger screen too, even though the dimensions are pretty similar.

I am no help with your original question and I see others have assisted you with that, but I have a question about the part I quoted.

Are you sure you get another 6% on top of your Amazon card's 5%? I understood the terms to be 6% *total*, so it's only an extra 1% if we use our Amazon's 5% card when we delay shipping.

I looked it up - you're correct.  The way they word it is very misleading.   And - it means I won't care about "delaying" delivery for an extra 1% back.
That's what they're doing instead of the 'flat" fee for prime video, etc. (the one's that aren't free. . . . which rotate).

I don't know whether to be glad or sad that I was right. On the one hand, I've said no to delaying many purchases due to the measly 1% savings, but on the other hand, if it really was an extra 6%, I'd feel bad for missing out on that extra savings! LOL.

I think I read somewhere that the 6% will go through the end of the year. If that's the case, I'll take my stuff ASAP, thankyouverymuch.

Edited to add a word.
