TexasProud Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Starting the thread. I think this time I won't post until I do things. No sense making a list I will never do. 4 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Good morning! I've already had coffee and a shower, dealt with a surly 14yo who is just now realizing when I say the words "hey, this week has some high pollen days." it means "hey, child, pollen = misery. Take your meds so you can function." and not "Oh, you poor thing. Stay home from school and play video games all day because you didn't think you needed to do anything about your allergies." For the rest of today: take ds to school school work take donation bag to the thrift store stop by Walmart for more medical tape. I don't know how we are out, but we are grocery store for eggs, orange juice, and buttermilk. It's breakfast for dinner tonight violin 10,000 steps tutoring/getting to know new student dinner 5 Quote

history-fan Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Good Morning call AC people for check, AC doesn’t seem to be performing as it should water gardens outside and plants inside try to trim dogs nails, goal is one nail a day clean floors check out native plantings, our state started a grant for people wanting to add native plants to parts of their yards. Help the pollinators housecleaning clean dishwasher make list with timelines for summer projects. Also include fun things to do 5 Quote
TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) good morning, all! @TexasProud, I hope you're able to get some things done that you *want* to do. Hugs to you! @history-fan, our AC was doing weird things - turned out to just be the thermostat in our case. DH read up on what it was doing, the good ole internet suggested maybe that, a quick trip to Lowe's & $24 later (and a bit of time while DH shut everything off and swapped it out), and it seems to be back to normal. Fingers crossed, and hopefully yours is something easy and inexpensive also! @mom31257, good luck with the co-op board! I'm so excited for you that you have that for next year! My list today is split between "before Oldest leaves" and "after Oldest leaves" (he heads off today for 2 wks training and then will be working summer camp all summer until August; he is unsure if he comes home the weekend between training and camp....). So, the list: ...coffee ...help Oldest get any needed laundry done before he goes ...help him pack, as needed (find the right suitcase, etc.) ...quick grocery run for "good sandwich stuff" for lunch today ...process some of the peaches we picked (we got 36 *pounds* off one of our peach trees yesterday!!!) so we can make peach ice cream ...make the peach ice cream ...make sure DH checks his oil, tires, etc. before he takes off ...remind Oldest to gas up, charge his phone, etc. before he takes off ....eat lunch, send Oldest off to camp After that: ....get someone to help take the graduation decorations down and put away/throw away as that was our last grad until/unless someone graduates college ...maybe run to the store for a new vase/pair of vases to arrange my Lego flowers (the one I have just really doesn't work well) ...run to Academy; return a rain jacket we bought Oldest (found a cheaper/better one on amazon), and buy new fencing shoes (I use cheer shoes) ...finally open my box of curriculum for the private 3rd grade, start going through that ...call the homeschool bookstore near(ish) me, see if they carry Rod & Staff stuff in person (if so, go get it) *Checked online, they do carry Rod & Staff, but are closed today, so will go tomorrow or more likely, Weds ...dinner will be quesadillas, so come home, cook dinner, eat dinner ...eat dinner, veg out - figure out the new norm (does DH have anything to do w/just the 2 boys left at home? will my "watch tv alone" nights be gone for the summer??) ...oh! maybe during the day if it's sunny and not going to rain (check the weather), spray paint my wheelbarrow so I can set up my fairy garden *Going to be rainy/stormy, so wait on this ...make sure I have stuff for the PreK kid tomorrow -- we're doing once/month, tomorrow is our May date, so need to prep, gather things, etc. so I don't have to rush in the morning I think that's all.....we'll see what gets moved to later. HomeAgain Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I've gotten 2 of my assignments done. 7 more to finish for the week. Now to finish filling a bag for the thrift store. Making this a weekly trip is really very handy! 4 Quote

TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 grocery shopped remembered a container I have that would work as a vase, and it did, so that's done (for the lego flowers) DH processed the peaches for the ice cream while I was at the store, so that's going 3 Quote
TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Got Oldest all packed, had lunch, ate the peach ice cream, sending him off on his way and then taking a nap. Whew! I'll miss him, but I'm so very grateful for how well he's doing these days, and how comfortable I feel letting him go this time. 3 Quote
TexasProud Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Went to eye doctor, clean bill of health, though a caution that the cancer prevention drug I am on may cause cataracts. Watched a training about email lists Cooked a big lunch for dh and dd and started the dishwasher. 4 Quote
TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Oldest got off about 45 mins ago, which is good, b/c now it's gross and stormy out. He's ahead of the storm cell and should stay that way (severe weather predicted/possible). That said, I'll not be going out in this, so that bumps "go to academy" off the list - works fine, b/c tomorrow I'll be in that area, and can run that errand then. Going to open up the 3rd grade stuff and start playing with curriculum for that, I think. 4 Quote
history-fan Posted May 13 Posted May 13 @TheReaderthanks for the info. The AC is still under warranty, so that’s good. Dh thinks it needs more Freon. It’s a carrier brand AC so their warranty is good 4 Quote
TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Oldest made it safely to camp, and the storm looks to be more or less past us, though I'm still hearing thunder. Got the 3rd grade stuff at least organized....taking a small break before I decide how much of diving into it I need to do *today* vs throughout the summer. Texted to reschedule a meeting, they replied no problem, so that's good. Tackling some unlisted electronic chores - updating registrations, payments received, etc., and checking into a return process for some stuff. 3 Quote
TheReader Posted May 13 Posted May 13 ...and, Oldest just texted "hey, I need a 2nd form of ID, my SS #, and when was my last tetanus shot? by tomorrow morning, can you email me?" :smh: Sent him a scan of his passport and ss card. No clue on the tetanus....DH sent him info on where to go get it. Not sure if this was a failure on their part to communicate this to him, or a failure on his part to check/read thoroughly all the stuff. Thankful he *has* a passport for a 2nd form of ID, though! I'm curious what other acceptable forms of "2nd form of ID" they'd take....(I guess most of these kids will have college IDs, but would that suffice?) It's still raining, but not storming. 4 Quote
TexasProud Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Well I updated the newsletter sign up on my page. I made a pop-up, changed my Substack description, and used an embed form on the bottom of my page. I should have been writing some things as I am behind now, but just didn't feel like doing that. 5 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Three assignments done. One requires walking the neighborhood tonight. I found The Gashlycrumb Tinies (Edward Gorey) at the thrift store and snagged it. It has needed to be added to my collection for a while. Tutoring went well. We have a plan for future visits. DS25 is cooking dinner (yay!), but I did make sure he had all the ingredients. 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Put gas in my car. Expensive! Made dinner And brownies (for Ds to take to school tomorrow) Time to relax, after I do my PT exercises. They really do help. 4 Quote
LifeLovePassion Posted May 14 Posted May 14 School today. Busy day. Had 2 double classes (get paid extra). Had a meeting that ended at contract hours and had to stay because I am out tomorrow for an appointment and took the day so I will hit up a plant sale too, but I had to stay to prep a couple things. Got home and planted my annuals. Now I know what else I can buy at the sale (what's left to fill). Need to plant the perennials still. Tomorrow I will look for more shade loving stuff for our pine tree area and a few more sun loving natives for the south side of the house. 5 Quote
mom31257 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 The meeting with the co-op board was good. I really like the women involved! I hope I like their kids. 😄 The exercise class tonight was small, so I was able to be upfront and see better, which was helpful. I just worked on more review problems because I meet with the same student tomorrow night. 4 Quote
mom31257 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 I forgot that I talked to a mom in Nashville about tutoring this summer and possibly joining a class next year. 4 Quote
