Update on my student. His dad heard through a person outside the family that he went to Mississippi to be with the girl he had been talking to online, and he wants to start a new life. I’m praying he will at least contact his dad or a sibling soon.

It's my 11th anniversary! 🙂 So we're going to have a very romantic day: cleaning our church, doing laundry, getting things for Mother's Day at Walmart, and then getting 6 kids bathed and ready for church tomorrow. Be still my heart! 😉

Happy anniversary, @wisdomandtreasures!

I have put a notice in the kitchen that I am not cooking tomorrow.  What that looks like for the rest of the house will be up to them.  The florist I ordered from sent me a picture of what they're delivering to dh's mom.  They're beautiful, like always.  I'm so glad I didn't go with a preset arrangement.

Today:

  • drop ds off at his meeting
  • grocery shop
  • take the trash to the dump
  • trim the bushes out front
  • pick up ds
  • schoolwork
  • prep games for a new kid on Monday
  • 10,000 steps
  • violin

Maybe not all in that order, but close enough.

I hope that the dad gets some concrete information and even though that isn't what he wants brings him a tiny bit of piece to at least know he is safe and not just anywhere.  He is 18 right?

The police could get lots of useful info if they are given the boy’s phone. We have an acquaintance who is a detective and speaks to teens about cyber self-defense and dangers. Scary, sad stuff! Praying for safety and healed relationships!!

Mom does not want to go out for lunch tomorrow, so that makes things easier. We’ll pop over there with a card and some flowers instead.

Multi-tasking on lots of housekeeping tasks today.

Dinner is grilled burgers and sausages with sweet potato fries, pasta salad, and some tbd low-carb side. Further meal planning yet to be done.

Went to a few plant sales this morning with MIL and SIL. DH and youngest changed transmission fluid on one of the vehicles. Will hang out with MIL/SiL for a bit now. It is gorgeous out. I will maybe putter around with planting. Or else work on that tomorrow.

Had a wonderful conversation with my daughter, just a lot of listening because she was in the mood to talk, though I did talk some.  @fairfarmhand, it will get better! For the most part we are good, occasionally she gets defensive like she did at 16-20, but that is much more rare now.

Making progress on the list.

Ds just left for work (about 2 miles away) in my car. He’s had his license less than a month and it still SO excited to get to drive by himself. I love being able to give him that independence! I will love it even more when he has his own vehicle! 😉😆 🚙

Dd has a flat tire. She managed to get off the road. Dh is on the phone with her, talking her through calling AAA and what to do. She has a place to stay with a friend down there for the night.

She will be driving to NC later this month. I have been a bit nervous about that drive - longer and more challenging than any she’s done. So this is not actually a bad thing. Learning opportunity in an easier setting. Good experience. No one is hurt; she’s not on the interstate; it’s not cold, raining or dark; she’s not under any time pressure to get somewhere.

Flat tires are rough.  One thing we have gotten each other for Christmas, @ScoutTN, has been portable air machines for each vehicle.  Dh and I had a nail in the tire in BFE,Maine, that little machine helped get us to the next town and a place to have it fixed.  Too many tire places now use a tool that makes it impossible to get the lug nuts off on your own, especially in larger vehicles.

I took ds to his meeting.  I would have gone back home during it, but it's May and that means the construction crews are in full force and the traffic is backed up.  It took us ten minutes longer than it should have to get there.  So, I browsed nearby shops until he was done and then went home.

Also accomplished:

violin

grocery shopping with dh.  He took the trash to the dump while I was gone.

Not quite 10,000 steps.  It's 50 degrees and cloudy.  I'm a wimp.

@HomeAgain  I will check into the air machines! She has a real size spare, but yeah, no way are those lug nuts coming off without a power tool. Her tires are under warranty at Costco.

Dh is grilling. Which means the burgers will be overdone. 😐
