TheReader Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Good morning! up early again - not great, but okay. Today's the last day of 2nd grade -- half day, thank goodness. Will have a couple of hours of "academics", then the class party, then the 3rd Grade teachers come in and introduce themselves, we clean my room for the summer, and I go home. yay! Once home, DS has to take his music exam. Middle has to submit his exam. Oldest is DONE! DH is cooking dinner tonight I think, then take DS to church, grocery shop, etc. Remember to sign up for Nationals!! so we can go fence this summer. (deadline is Fri, but we'll be out of town) Text my friend in OH to see when's a good time to call and discuss logistics/details. and start planning the trip. Home from the church/grocery/church run, veg out, go to bed. Bring on summer! 5 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Good morning! The house was so warm (70 degrees) that I woke up way too early and sat in the oppressive humidity. The rain is rolling in today. coffee yardwork (try to get the front mowed before the rain) schoolwork send off a card dinner? No clue yet what to make Scouts went well last night. DS is at the inbetween stage of being too skinny for oldest ds's pants and too tall for his old ones (bought in Sept, worn once). Our uniform person brought in a ton of old items that kids had outgrown and well, now he has a new pair of dry-weave pants and a new pair of lightweight shorts. I was not looking forward to trying to order them online again and now I'm glad I don't have to. 6 Quote
SKL Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Howdie, happy Wednesday! Today I have been committed to work about 6 hours in a catering operation. Therefore, I need to essentially get a day's client work done in 2.5 hours. Including the stuff I promised yesterday but didn't deliver! Done: Slept, yay! Woke up, yay! Took out the garbage. Let the dog out. "Yoga etc." Caught up on news, emails, calendar, social media, and electronic school stuff. To do: Lots of client work. Catering stuff. More client work. Webinar with kids re college orientation. Pay bills. Walk the dog. Might run a load or two of laundry. Whatever else gets done. 5 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I got the yard ready to mow, grabbed the machine, and.........bailed. There are very few things I'm afraid of, and mice are number 1 on that list. Seeing one hop out from the engine and dive underneath.........I don't know if I can do this. May the hawk flying around the neighborhood find his breakfast this morning in my front yard. 3 3 Quote

mom31257 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Would you all please pray for one of my private students, Cameron, and his family? He left home and no one knows where he is. He is 19 and is supposed to graduate this weekend. They believe he was talking to a girl online from Mississippi, and he left with someone else and left his phone at home. I can't even imagine what his dad and family are going through right now! His mom died a few years ago, which is when his dad asked me to help homeschool him. His dad remarried a couple of years ago. I had no idea there were any issues. Cameron is adopted and has 10 older siblings. I know at least one other sibling has cut the dad out of his life since the mom died. Today is the last day of my homeschool classes, and I only have one more to go. I'm trying to have fun with them, but this is weighing on me. I have an in-person student this afternoon, too. 5 Quote
mommyoffive Posted May 8 Posted May 8 @mom31257 Sending prayers. I hope he is found safe and sound soon. 2 1 Quote
mommyoffive Posted May 8 Posted May 8 (edited) Last night I got 8 hours of somewhat ok sleep. The 2 nights before that did not get more than 6 hours and I was totally exhausted. We had a tornado warning last night which left us stranded not at home. By the time we got home I was done. Oh and on the way to activities we got stuck driving in a hail storm. Which did damage to our new car. Sigh. Luckily no tornadoes. I am just out of it today even though I got more sleep. I have been up for 4 hours but still just feel half asleep. This week is so busy and I am just over it. On top of our normal busy schedule we have 4 dentist appointments (which resulted in 2 referrals), 3 doctors appointments, 1 vet apt, 1 private lesson (that normally doesn't happen), and a teacher conference. Next week is even worse. I am thinking about rescheduling 2 appointments for next week. Oh and the kids are in rehearsals that take up the weekend (both days). Oh and my crappy neighbors who spend the months of April- September blasting their stereo so that is all that we can hear in our house are having fun outside today. Started a bit late as we have had some crappy weather in April. It is miserable to listen to this all the time. Edited May 8 by mommyoffive 4 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 @mom31257 Praying for Cameron - safe return home and good help with underlying issues. @mommyoffive Sorry for the poor sleep, weariness, loud neighbors, and crazy schedule! Hope you can catch a few minutes of refreshment and peace somewhere in the midst of the chaos! When does school end? I know you are counting the days… 2 1 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Football is cancelled due to predicted storms this afternoon. Went to Trader Joe’ and got dinner plus some other random things. Next up: lunch! 2 1 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Dh woke up way too early and now went back to a nap. Work is going to be exhausting for him tonight if he doesn't get enough sleep. I have decided not to feed people tonight. There are enough leftovers in the fridge and half of them want something they can cook themselves anyway. 3 Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 8 Posted May 8 🤣🤣🤣 Who's the most popular mom right now? Me, that's who! DS is not appreciative of my answers today as he's screwing around not doing his chores/doing them badly. "Oh, that took you ONE WHOLE HOUR to clean off the top of your dresser!" (5 items) "You must have really struggled with that! That's okay, though. There's enough time today to let you take as long as you need to get it done. And tomorrow, too! I'm sure that free time will feel great after SO MUCH hard work for SO LONG." My passive aggressive game is on, and his phone is turned off. 4 Quote
TheReader Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Praying, @mom31257, for Cameron and his family. How terrifying for them. Praying for you, too, @mommyoffive, and the crazy schedule; I hope you are able to get some rest! 2 1 Quote
TheReader Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Home from co-op, and that's a wrap! I only cried a little. (I love, and hate, this day every year -- most of these kiddos I've had for 3 years, and saying goodbye for the last time is HARD!). We had so much fun, and the kids were great, parents were great, DS helped me clean my room at the end of the day, and all was well. For the rest of today: ...unpack the stuff from today ...get a nap ...send emails to the parents (tuition reminders, end of year summary) ...make sure DS takes his music exam ...make sure Middle submits their final exam ...eat dinner ...take DS to church, grocery shop, pick him up ...come home, veg out I think that's all.... 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Made dinner Did a pile of electronic chores Headed out to PT shortly. Predicted rain is not here yet, but it is clouding over. It’s hot and muggy. Changing my clothes (out of a dress) snd eating a bit before I go. 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 9 Author Posted May 9 PT was fine. Enjoying my heating pad now! Storms did not materialize here, though I think there were some within an hour of here. We just have a bit of wind and very light rain. Did a tiny bit of AHG stuff, but I’m tired. Gonna read til bedtime. 2 Quote
