Ali in OR Posted May 2 Posted May 2 It is May, isn't it. I'll post here too: 22 min Fitbymik workout this morning. 6 Quote
wintermom Posted May 2 Posted May 2 @Laura Corin Thanks for starting us out on a new month! I played some fun mixed doubles tennis last night. Lots of running around after tennis balls. Also took the dogs for their daily walk in the woods yesterday and this morning. The leaves and even some flowers are popping open quite suddenly. It's been a cold spring, so seeing leaf buds and blossoms is pretty exciting stuff! 😅 6 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 Repeat of my post from today too: Thursday - swimming first thing, then a brisk walk to the other side of the town to buy a small second-hand but as-new Osprey backpack for solo walks. 5 Quote
Harriet Vane Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Gyrotonics today, always a pleasure. She's got me doing some strengthening for my neck that's needed and is going well. 6 Quote
Eos Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I just had an epiphany. I've been feeling kind of down on myself for not being able to do much physical activity here at my mom's house except for workout videos and small walks. But just now I did the hardest fitbymyk video that I've ever done and I could actually do the craziest move in it - a side plank, then I reached down and pressed the 5 lb weight up to the sky while staying in the side plank - I am shocked I could do it. Progress! Edited May 3 by Eos 6 Quote
Harriet Vane Posted May 3 Posted May 3 @Eos What a triumph! Those moments help propel us ever onward. 5 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Friday - I looked up the Core Paths map and walked a circuit from my house that included a bit of lost path across a field. It's good to walk paths that are rarely taken to make sure that there is proof of use. Only about four miles of walking. 6 Quote
wintermom Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Not a lot of activity today - just a dog walk in the afternoon with dd. It was nice and warm and the dogs loved their running and wrestling time. 5 Quote
Eos Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I walked in the greenest forest today and brought home nettles for supper. 5 1 Quote
Ali in OR Posted May 4 Posted May 4 A 25 min yoga this morning. Lots of cool rain over the next few days here, then midweek the sun comes out and it begins to warm up. My watch says next weekend we'll hit the 80's! Which will be lovely but we'll wilt. We're not acclimated at all. Would have been nice to be in the 60's or 70's for a bit first. 5 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 Just a quick walk on Saturday. The only excitement was spotting the installation of fibre-to-the-home approaching our house. We had it at our previous house but are currently on copper wiring for the final stretch here. 6 Quote

Do you open water swim? Are you swimming with an organized group? I love open water swimming. I’m a slow but steady swimmer. Last summer I swam a lot with an organized group (with someone following us on a paddle board). This year the day of that swim doesn’t work for me so I’m debating what to do. 6 Quote
Harriet Vane Posted May 5 Posted May 5 We helped ds move yesterday but it wasn’t nearly as much work as I had thought it would be. They had a ton of helpers. We ended up playing Skull King and going out for dinner as a group, then the long drive home. No margin for a quick walk and no real grunt-work on the move. 6 Quote

I used to swim in the sea, but for the amount of exercise I gained it was too time consuming driving to the sea. As I work four days a week I find that swimming in my local municipal pool is easier to fit into my week. 4 Quote
Eos Posted May 5 Posted May 5 More weights videos. Tomorrow I take my mother to my sister's house so I might get some walking there. She walks a lot. 6 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 (edited) Sunday - about 8 miles of walking in the south of our county, including over a hill. Edited May 5 by Laura Corin 4 2 Quote
wintermom Posted May 5 Posted May 5 @Laura Corin Gorgeous photos! I love the green grass and rolling hills! It's pretty flat where I live now, and I miss the hills and mountains of the province I grew up in. On the plus side, I have access to loads more lakes and rivers where I live and a longer summer season to enjoy them. I played 2 hrs of ladies doubles tennis, where I magically played some of the best tennis in my life. I have no idea how I can play like this one week, after a week of playing horribly. It's bonkers. The whole time I was playing today I kept telling myself, "Don't think of ANYTHING. Don't mess this great moment up by doing something stupid, like thinking!!" 🤣 6 Quote

Soror Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I did some strength training Thursday or Friday. I played pickleball Friday and had a few walks on Friday and Saturday. Sunday I just puttered around the house. I'm trying to stay in the house as my allergies are flared up and I need to feel better before we leave for vaca tomorrow. I have plenty of things to do around here so that's fine! 6 Quote

Harriet Vane Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Weights and core at the gym this morning. I have been trying intentionally to boost my neck strength and so far it’s going well. 5 Quote

wintermom Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Played mixed doubles tennis for 1.5 hrs last night, which was a lot of fun at the time but this morning my body is protesting. Also went for a very nice dog walk in the woods with dd (and the dogs). Today I'll be playing 2 hrs of ladies doubles and probably a dog walk, unless the body needs a nap. 😉 6 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 (edited) 4 hours ago, wintermom said: Ooooo, the Cairngorms!! I'd love to go there! Those are my local mountains. The website covers most of Scotland. Tuesday - I woke early and had time to swim 550 metres. Husband pointed out recently that I didn't need to stay in the slow swimming lanes because my speed fit the medium lane. So I moved over and ended up swimming with a guy who was a former neighbour. Swimming at the same speed as a man is less impressive though given that he swims 4 km every day. Lunchtime - quick walk up the Den. Eta - 20 minutes of standing yoga after work. Edited May 7 by Laura Corin 4 Quote
Eos Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Arrived at my sister's, will hopefully do a good walk today when my mother naps. Got a brief workout yesterday from wearing my heavy backpack and pushing my mother in a wheelchair briskly through two airports. 4 Quote
knitgrl Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I was feeling kind of run down yesterday, but did 20 minutes of walking. 5 Quote
wintermom Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Tennis and dog walk were great yesterday! Today is rainy, but I'll try to get out for a dog walk later on. I should probably do my strength and stretch exercises, too. 4 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Rest day. Just strolled three miles to the physio and back. 4 Quote
Ali in OR Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Fitbymik standing dumbbell workout this morning. And spring is today! We've had high temps in the 50's for weeks, yesterday hit the 60's, and today is supposed to get to 78. Tomorrow will feel like summer (in the 80's). I don't know what to wear. Layers of course--in the 40's now. If they have not turned on the central AC at school I will be baking in full sun this afternoon. And if they do turn it on I will need a sweater. But still, glad to have some warmth. 4 Quote
Eos Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Nothing yesterday, I'll call that a rest day. I'm sore today from all that rest, lol. 3 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 I've posted this before, but whenever I need energy to exercise, I watch this. Thursday - 400m swim first thing. Then walked up the den and over the fields with a friend after work. Finally a stroll with Husband after supper - it was such a lovely evening. 4 Quote
Eos Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Some walking, a video workout without the weights. Today I will fly from CA to OR to WA to Boston then get on a bus for five hours then get picked up for the last hour drive, home sometime tomorrow afternoon. I will try to walk this morning and at the airports. 4 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 Friday - a little core and upper body work and a modified yoga standing sequence. Maybe 40 minutes in all. This afternoon, in glorious sunshine, we wandered around a one hundred year old Japanese garden, then got takeaway Jamaican food. Great day. 3 2 Quote
wintermom Posted May 11 Posted May 11 It was a really busy work day, and thankfully I had tennis booked at 4pm so I could take a break. I did have to do a couple more hours of work after tennis, but it was great to have that physical and mental break. No time for a dog walk today, though. Tomorrow dd and I are taking the dogs to agility. First training session of the year for the older border collie, and first one for the puppy (who is 10 months old already!). 4 Quote
Ali in OR Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Yoga this morning. We have beautiful days in the eighties right now. And apparently I missed the northern lights last night. Maybe I will try tonight. Have no idea how late I have to be up, but I'm seeing lots of pics in my facebook feed. 4 Quote
wintermom Posted May 11 Posted May 11 @Ali in OR I missed the northern lights yesterday, too. There's a lot of light pollution near our house, so probably wouldn't be able to see much. I've enjoyed photos from friends, though. 3 Quote
Laura Corin Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Mostly just worked on clearing out to prepare for builders. I took a walk to a local stately home though which has serious rhododendrons. 4 1 Quote

wintermom Posted May 12 Posted May 12 We got rained out of agility, but did manage to do some frisbee throwing with the dogs yesterday. Went for a dog walk this morning with dh, and it's raining again. I got in some strength and stretch exercises yesterday, and will do some more today. No tennis this weekend, but more scheduled for tomorrow and the next day! 4 Quote
