Mixed bag over here -- DH & the offspring are heading to the path of totality, which will likely suffer cloud cover but the hotel is paid for and Oldest has his heart set on it.  I will be staying here so I can share a (rainy?) partial eclipse fun and excitement with my K/1st kiddos at co-op.

So, today so far we have:
--washed/dried the fencing gear
--dh taught me how to clean my fencing tip and put it back together
--checked on Middle, who did manage to turn in homework last night - yay!
--ate breakfast, took a nap, etc.

Still to do:
--DH & kids pack, eat lunch, head out
--me, start drawing the characters for DS's graduation quilt which isn't even started yet; luckily that part should go quickly
--order the fabric for the background of the front of the quilt

--if there's still time start cutting out the fabric for the characters (they will be appliqued, so it's draw the figures on fusible, cut the sections out, fuse to fabric, cut around that)
--do all that while watching either Grey's Anatomy, or the Eras Tour
--figure out what I am eating for dinner

--remember not to stay up too late b/c school tomorrow
--!!Don't forget to make egg-free sugar cookies for tomorrow!! (this may involve a grocery run, not sure)
--pack the cookies!

Think that's about it, so, a lazy/productive day.

No laundry.  The adult children who have monopolized the washer for the past week continue to do so.

Dinner tonight is chipotle spiced grilled chicken, rice, black beans, with poblano strips, avocado, and a citrus sauce.  Sour cream/cheese for those who want it.  I already grocery shopped for the few ingredients needed.

@HomeAgain, what a great story you shared about the team! Congratulations to your ds!!

We went to church. We decided to go to Subway afterward because we had coupons. The guy checking us out was a student of dh's last year, and he gave us a free sandwich! It pays off being a teacher kids actually like!

I'm going to work on the budget because I haven't got to that all weekend.

I want to do more of my Bible study for Wednesday night, too.

re-figured-out how much background fabric I need, and how big to make the focus figures for DS's quilt (he wants the video game characters from the game he's designed/designing), so I can for real start on that once everyone leaves.

Going up to check my color card against the drawing, to see which light blue I want for the background, and then will order the fabric.

Family Fun Time is off the table.  Dh picked up an extra shift.  He was offered 12 hours of overtime yesterday on our way to the game and turned it down so he could watch ds play.

So.......no family time tonight, It's a good thing vacation is coming up!

DH & the kids are off and on their way.

Went to the grocery store, stocked up on delicious junk food for dinner/snacking tonight 🙂 and the stuff for dinner (crock pot) tomorrow, and for the sugar cookies for tomorrow.

I have to let the cream cheese come to room temp, so having a first snack of many while I watch one episode of Grey's before I bake cookies and start the productive part of the evening.

@TheReader What are you making in the crock pot?

slow-cooker tortilla soup; I'll prep things tonight and plug it in tomorrow morning before I go to work; the guys will be driving home after the eclipse, which *should* be a 3 hour drive, but maybe will be a lot more than that, b/ eclipse traffic, so....

Ugh, Dd’s roommate at college has the flu. Dd texted other friends and has made arrangements to sleep elsewhere for a few nights. Thankfully, she brought her school backpack and plenty of clothes home for the weekend, so she won’t even need to go in the room til Tuesday. And then probably just to pop in quickly to get a few things. Dd texted her roommate to see if she needs anything that could be dropped off, especially drinks or food. I told Dd to make sure the windows are cracked (They can adjust the thermostat to compensate.) and to put a new filter in the hepa air purifier.

She went to gas up her car and get some masks. (I need to order more!)

Praying that the roommate gets better quickly and that Dd doesn’t get it!

@prairiewindmomma Are you moving far away?

We dont know where we are headed yet, but dh got hit by tech layoffs and given what he does we are not likely to be able to stay here. We are prepping the house for sale so that when a job offer comes in we will be ready to go.

Sad that tomorrow will be cloudy here. We are not in the path of the totality, but we were supposed to have 95% at about 2:00 tomorrow.

Same.  We are supposed to have 87 coverage, but with a 40 to 50% cloud coverage.   This was the same for the last eclipse.

We would have about 97% eclipse....but supposed to have 100% cloud cover with rain. :waaah:  We'll still do all our eclipse activities in class, just in case.

Even where the family has gone, totality, but predicting 50% cloud cover (and low clouds that will interfere, not high clouds that won't). :sigh: We shall see.

On another note, though, watching the Eras Tour on streaming is as good, or better, than in person, b/c while I don't have the in person energy from being there (which was insane), also, I don't have the "teen girls screaming at untold decibels for hours" ear pain, either, which makes at home I think a little better. The video is super well done.

*I did finish figure #3....I draw a figure, listen/watch a few songs, eat a little bit, then do the next one.

@prairiewindmomma, congrats on your dd's team doing so well!!  I'm sorry about the layoff and possibly having to move. I'm sure that won't be easy for any of you!

@TheReader, cookies sound very good right now!

I hope the views turn out better for all of you than expected. I saw the last eclipse and had a great view. My best friend and our kids went to TN and stayed at my sister's house. I think I have some glasses packed in school or sentimental boxes, but I didn't take the time to find them. I doubt we'll have much here anyway.

I made the egg roll in a bowl and stir-fried rice. Yummy! We both have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

We watched the second episode of We Were the Lucky Ones on Hulu. So good!!!

Well, I got 4 of the 5 figures drawn on the fusible stuff, and ran out, so the last one will have to wait. Taking a break to actually *watch* some of Taylor and then will gather the fabrics and start transferring some of the drawn ones onto fabric -- I can bring my iron and ironing station down, and do it all down here while I watch.

I got roped into helping ds buckle down to work on his homework, so I am calling it a day on my personal to-do list.

The Reader—you seem to be living my ideal day. It’s been several years since I’ve been able to quilt regularly. Enjoy!!

It was absolute bliss. ❤️ I love my family - adore them - and I do get plenty of time to myself, but something about having the whole entire house empty, for the whole entire day/night, was just divine.

I hope you get a day like that in your not-so-distant future!
