Math facts apps

Hi all,

I’m curious if anyone has any experiences or thoughts around using apps for mastery of math facts, including any specific app recommendations. Math fact mastery seems like something that would be perfectly suited for apps, and I’m aware of some options like xtramath, but it’s not something I see discussed with any regularity so I’m eager to hear any perspectives before I enter the thicket, pick an app, and take the plunge.

Dragonbox Numbers and Big Numbers work hard on facts.

Most people don't end up using an app for this, preferring things that are more interactive between people, like Kate Snow's Math Facts That Stick.

We had good success with memorizing multiplication facts using Multiplication by Heart on Mathigon.org. Also agreeing with @HomeAgain, not an app, but we really liked the Facts that Stick series by Kate Snow (addition was our favorite).

We did use Xtramath, with the added reward (bribe?) that AT THE VERY MINUTE a child completed an operation (example: "finished" the addition level), we piled into the car, drove across town, and that child got to choose a $3 carton of ice cream for the entire family to share that night. (Ice cream on a week night was a rare privilege, so that was high motivation for my crew.) And each child (eventually) got to choose 4 total ice cream options, and each child was comfortably competent in the basic arithmetic facts. 🙂
