happynurse Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Does anyone have a recommendation for a geography curriculum for the 7th - 8th grade crowd? We are doing Uncle Sam and You by Notgrass next year for 7th, which isn't really geography heavy. Anything you'd think would pair well with it? Thanks! Quote
SilverMoon Posted April 4 Posted April 4 My current 7th grader is using most of the lit/readers and geography spines from Build Your Library level 7 this year. We're skipping the rest of the level. (I'm not familiar with Notgrass at all.) 1 Quote
LauraClark Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Have you looked at Notgrass Geography? It's a high school curriculum, but I would think you could make it work for 7th/8th. I was considering it for my 8th, but I think I'm just going to make my own again next year (have him pick a new country every 3 weeks, do research, write a paper or something, seterra mixed in). 1 Quote
Penderwink Posted April 4 Posted April 4 You could look at “Progress in Geography” text/workbook or CGP KS3 Geography (both on Amazon), and adapt content from there. 1 Quote
knitgrl Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Trail Guide to US Geography has different levels. https://geomatters.com/collections/trail-guide-to-geography 1 Quote
Foofaraw Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Lots pf people used to recommend Runkle’s geography for middle school years, but seems like you have to buy it used: https://www.exodusbooks.com/runkle-geography/5924/ 1 Quote
Classically Minded Posted April 5 Posted April 5 We're using Memoria Press Geography for 6th-8th and they have 3 levels, an older student could possibly do more than one level a year. 1 Quote
Boymama5 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 We are going to be doing a combination of Campfire Curriculum 50 states units (two units out with more to come) and Trial guide to US geography (more so for the mapping aspect and reinforcement of what we learn in Campfire). Campfire units are similar to Notgrass’s 50 States, just a different style. 1 Quote

My oldest is currently using Uncle Sam and You in 7th. Civics/Government is the focus of the course. Geography/mapping were covered in America the Beautiful and From Adam to Us. We've done both and I still have the mapbooks that he completed. You could very easily add in Trailguide to US Geography, Great States (board game), or Draw the USA. 1 Quote
