Alexandra
It looks really lean except for the band of fat on one side. I accidentally defrosted the worng package of meat! :tongue_smilie: It is already in the slow cooker - just wondering how tough it will be. I don't even know what rump roast for! Thanks
OnTheBrink
Yes, but pour a can of cola over it. NOT DIET. The cola (or root beer, Dr. Pepper) will tenderize it. You won't taste the soda at all. I also pour a packet of onion soup mix in with it when I use the cola method.
Rhonda in TX
I just cook it in the crockpot with Lipton Beefy Mushroom soup and water. Yummy! The cola method sounds good. I'll try that next time.
G5052
DH's family used rump roasts almost exclusively when they had his grandma's special recipe. The texture may not be what you're used to if you use chuck or round, but I actually prefer it now for roast. Just cook long and slow! I used one for a pot roast today. It was actually pretty tender and it was grass-fed, too. I was concerned since I had read so much conflicting information about which cut of meat to use.
